3868 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Mansur, from Mujahid, regarding "And whoever disbelieves, then indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds": He said: "[This refers to] whoever disbelieves in Allah and the Last Day."
3869 - My father narrated to us, Abu Nu'aym narrated to us, Isra'il narrated to us, Nadhir narrated to us, from Mujahid, from Ibn 'Umar, who said: "Whoever finds [the means] while he is wealthy and healthy, yet does not perform the pilgrimage, his sign between his eyes shall be that he is a disbeliever." Then he recited this verse: "And whoever disbelieves, then indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds."

3870 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Bakr al-Nakha'i narrated to us, from al-'Ala' ibn al-Musayyab, from 'Asim, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding "And [due] to Allah from the people is a pilgrimage to the House—for whoever is able to find thereto a way. And whoever disbelieves": [It means] whoever claims that it was not revealed.
3871 - My father narrated to us, Sahl ibn 'Uthman narrated to us, Yahya ibn Abi Za'idah narrated to us, al-'Ala' ibn al-Musayyab narrated to me, from 'Asim ibn Abi al-Najud, who said: Ibn 'Abbas said regarding "And whoever disbelieves": "It means whoever claims that it is not obligatory; that is the disbelief in it."

This is one of the two narrations from Ibn 'Abbas.
3872 - My father narrated to me, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding "And whoever disbelieves, then indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds": He says: "Whoever disbelieves in the Hajj, neither considering it a righteous deed nor leaving it a sin."
Abu Muhammad said: Something similar to this was narrated from Mujahid in one of the narrations, and from al-Hasan and Sa'id ibn Jubayr.
[The Fourth Aspect]
3873 - Abu 'Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Hammad al-Tahrani narrated to us, Hafs ibn 'Umar informed us, al-Hakam ibn Aban narrated to us, from 'Ikrimah, regarding His saying "And whoever disbelieves": He said: "It means [whoever] is not upon the pilgrimage." Abu Muhammad said: Something similar to this was narrated from 'Atiyyah al-'Awfi.

٣٨٧٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّخَعِيُّ، عن العلاء ابن الْمُسَيَّبِ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَلِلَّهِ عَلَى النَّاسِ حِجُّ الْبَيْتِ مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ إِلَيْهِ سَبِيلا وَمَنْ كَفَر مَنْ زَعَمَ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَنْزِلْ.
٣٨٧١ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا سَهْلُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي الْعَلاءُ بْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ أَبِي النَّجُودِ قَالَ: قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ وَمَنْ كَفَر قَالَ: مَنْ زَعَمَ أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ بِوَاجِبٍ فَذَلِكَ الْكُفْرُ بِهِ.

: هُوَ أَحَدُ قَوْلَيِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ.
٣٨٧٢ - حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَمَنْ كَفَرَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ غَنِيّ عَنِ الْعَالَمِينَ يَقُولُ: مَنْ كَفَرَ بِالْحَجِّ فَلَمْ يُرَجِّحْهُ بِرّاً وَلا تَرَكَهُ مَأْثَماً.
قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ: وَرُوِيَ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ «١» فِي إِحْدَى الرِّوَايَاتِ، وَالْحَسَنِ وَسَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.

٣٨٧٣ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ الطِّهْرَانِيُّ، أَنْبَأَ حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، ثنا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ أَبَانَ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَة فِي قَوْلِه: وَمَنْ كَفَرَ قَالَ لَيْسَ عَلَى ْحَج. قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ: وَرُوِيَ عن عطية العوفي نحو ذلك.
