- Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas informed us, Yazid narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "Our Lord, indeed we have heard a caller calling to faith, [saying], 'Believe in your Lord,' so we have believed": They heard a call from Allah, so they answered it, did good in it, and were patient for it. Allah informs you how the believer among mankind spoke, and how the believer among the jinn spoke. As for the believer among the jinn, he said: "Indeed, we have heard a wonderful Qur'an. It guides to the right course, and we have believed in it. And we will never associate with our Lord anyone." [al-Jinn: 1-2]. As for the believer among mankind, he said: "Our Lord, indeed we have heard a caller calling to faith, [saying], 'Believe in your Lord,' so we have believed. Our Lord, so forgive us our sins and remove from us our misdeeds and cause us to die among the righteous."

- 'Ali ibn al-Mubarak informed us, in what he wrote to me, Zayd ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, Ibn Thawr narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, regarding His saying: "We have heard a caller calling to faith," he said: It is Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

His saying, the Exalted: "Our Lord, and grant us what You promised us through Your messengers and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection."

- 'Ali ibn al-Mubarak informed us, in what he wrote to me, Zayd ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, Ibn Thawr narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj: "Our Lord, and grant us what You promised us through Your messengers": They are seeking the fulfillment of what Allah promised upon the tongues of His messengers.

- Abu 'Ubayd Allah, the nephew of Ibn Wahb, Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, narrated to us, my uncle narrated to me, 'Umar ibn Muhammad al-'Umari narrated to me, that Abu 'Iqal narrated to him, he said: I heard Anas ibn Malik saying: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "'Asqalan is one of the two brides; Allah will resurrect from it on the Day of Resurrection seventy thousand who will have no reckoning, and He will resurrect from it fifty thousand as delegations and witnesses to Allah. In it are the ranks of the martyrs; their heads are severed in their hands, their jugular veins pulsating with blood. They say: 'Our Lord, and grant us what You promised us through Your messengers and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection; indeed, You do not fail [in] Your promise.'" He said: Allah the Exalted says: "My servants have spoken the truth. Wash them in the River of Al-Baydah," and they emerge from it white, roaming in Paradise wherever they wish."
