His saying, the Exalted: "Their bridal gifts"
4767 - Muhammad ibn Isma'il al-Ahmasi narrated to us, Waki' narrated to us, from Sufyan, from 'Umayr al-Khath'ami, from 'Abd al-Malik ibn al-Mughirah al-Ta'ifi, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Baylamani, he said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said regarding [the verse]: "And give the women their bridal gifts as a free gift," they said: "O Messenger of Allah, what are the ties [al-'ala'iq] between them?" He said: "That upon which their families are satisfied."
4768 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim narrated to us, Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf narrated to us, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding: "And give the women their bridal gifts," he says: Their dowries.
His saying, the Exalted: "As a free gift [nihlah]"

4769 - It was mentioned from Muhammad ibn Salamah, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from al-Zuhri, from 'Urwah, from 'A'ishah, she said regarding: "And give the women their bridal gifts as a free gift," she said: Obligatory. Abu Muhammad said: It was narrated from Qatadah and Muqatil ibn Hayyan that they said: An ordinance.

4770 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "And give the women their bridal gifts as a free gift": The dowry.
4771 - 'Ali ibn al-Mubarak informed us in what he wrote to me, Zayd ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, Ibn Thawr narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, regarding: "And give the women their bridal gifts as a free gift," he said: A specified ordinance.

4772 - Al-Husayn ibn al-Sakan al-Basri narrated to us, Abu Zayd al-Nahwi narrated to us, Qays narrated to us, from Salim al-Aftas, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding His saying: "Then if they are pleased for you with anything of it as a gift," he said: It is for the husbands.
4773 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl ibn Musa, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim narrated to us, from Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "Then if they are pleased for you with anything," it is for the husbands.
4774 - My father narrated to us, 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn al-Mughirah narrated to us, Yazid ibn Zuray', informed us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "Then if they are pleased for you," he says: Whatever she is pleased to give with her own soul, without compulsion or disdain, then Allah has made it lawful for you to consume it, wholesome and pleasant.

٤٧٦٧ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الأَحْمَسِيُّ، ثنا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ عُمَيْرٍ الْخَثْعَمِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ الطَّائِفِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْبَيْلَمَانِيِّ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: وَآتُوا النِّسَاءَ صَدُقَاتِهِنَّ نِحْلَةً قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، فَمَا الْعَلَائِقُ بَيْنَهُنَّ؟ قال: ما يراضي عَلَيْهِ أَهْلُوهُمْ.
٤٧٦٨ - قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُزَاحِمٍ، ثنا بُكَيْرُ بْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ، عَنْ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ: وَآتُوا النِّسَاءَ صَدُقَاتِهِنَّ يَقُولُ:
مُهُورَهُنَّ.

٤٧٦٩ - ذُكِرَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ: وَآتُوا النِّسَاءَ صَدُقَاتِهِنَّ نِحْلَةً قَالَتْ: وَاجِبَةً.
قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ: وَرُوِيَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، وَمُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ قَالا: فَرِيضَةً.

٤٧٧٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَوْلُهُ: وَآتُوا النِّسَاءَ صَدُقَاتِهِنَّ نِحْلَةً: الْمَهْرَ.
٤٧٧١ - أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، ثنا ابْنُ ثَوْرٍ، عن ابن جريح: وَآتُوا النِّسَاءَ صَدُقَاتِهِنَّ نِحْلَةً قَالَ: فَرِيضَةً مُسَمَّاةً.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: فَإِنْ طِبْنَ لكم

٤٧٧٢ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ السَّكَنِ الْبَصْرِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو زَيْدٍ النَّحْوِيُّ، ثنا قَيْسٌ عَنْ سَالِمٍ الأَفْطَسُ، عَنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: فَإِنْ طِبْنَ لَكُمْ عَنْ شَيْءٍ مِنْهُ نَفْساً قَالَ: هِيَ لِلأَزْوَاجِ.
٤٧٧٣ - قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ مُوسَى، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُزَاحِمٍ، عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ مَعْرُوفٍ، عَنْ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ قَوْلَهُ: فَإِنْ طِبْنَ لَكُمْ عَنْ شَيْءٍ لِلأَزْوَاجِ.
٤٧٧٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ، أَنْبَأَ يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلَهُ: فَإِنْ طِبْنَ لَكُمْ يَقُولُ: مَا طَابَتْ بِهِ نَفْسُهَا فِي غَيْرِ كُرْهٍ أَوْ هَوَانٍ، فَقَدْ أَحَلَّ اللَّهُ لَكَ أَنْ تَأْكُلَهُ هَنِيئاً مَرِيئاً.
