His saying, the Exalted: "Which Allah has made a standing for you"

4791 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Which Allah has made a standing for you," meaning: your support and sustenance. Allah, glory be to Him, says: Do not purposely go to your wealth and what Allah has bestowed upon you and made for you as a means of living, and give it to your wife and children, and then look to what is in their hands. Rather, keep your wealth and improve it, and be the one who spends upon them for their clothing, their provision, and their maintenance.

4792 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Ibn Yaman narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak: "And do not give the foolish ones your wealth which Allah has made a standing for you," he said: A safeguard for your religion and a support for you.

Abu Muhammad said: It was narrated from Abu Malik that he said: Your support after Allah.

His saying, the Exalted: "And provide for them from it"

4793 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And provide for them from it," he said: Be you the one who spends upon them for their clothing and their maintenance.

His saying, the Exalted: "And clothe them"

4794 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd al-'Awfi informed us in what he wrote to me, my uncle al-Husayn narrated to us, from his father, from his grandfather, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And clothe them," he said: He commanded you to clothe them.

His saying, the Exalted: "And speak to them a known word"

4795 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Yahya ibn Khalaf narrated to us, Abu 'Asim narrated to us, from 'Isa, Ibn Abi Najih narrated to us, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "And speak to them a known word," he said: Regarding righteousness and kindness.

4796 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Abu 'Amir ibn Barrad narrated to us, Yahya ibn Abi Bukayr narrated to us, Sharik narrated to us, from Husayn, from 'Ikrimah: "And speak to them a known word," he said: Allah has provided for you; it is not people.

His saying, the Exalted: "And test the orphans"

4797 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And test the orphans," meaning: test the orphans at the time of puberty.

4798 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: "And test the orphans," he said: Their intellects. Abu Muhammad said: It was narrated from al-Hasan and al-Suddi similar to that.
