His saying, the Exalted: "While you are witnesses"
3887 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman al-Dashtaki narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Ja'far narrated to us, from his father regarding His saying: "While you are witnesses" to that, in what you read from the Book of Allah, that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah and that Islam is the religion of Allah; you find that in the Torah and the Gospel. Abu Muhammad said: The same was also narrated from Qatadah.
His saying, the Exalted: "And Allah is not unaware of what you do"
3888 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, who said: Then Allah sent down regarding the Jews: "And Allah is not unaware of what you do."
His saying, the Exalted: "O you who have believed"
[The First Aspect]
3889 - Zayd ibn Isma'il al-Sa'igh narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Hisham narrated to me, 'Isa ibn Rashid narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Badhimah, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: There is no verse in the Quran beginning with "O you who have believed" but that 'Ali is its noble one, its commander, and its master; and there is no one among the companions of Muhammad but that he has been admonished in the Quran, except for 'Ali ibn Abi Talib, for he was not admonished in any part of it.
3890 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, 'Abdah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Khaythamah, who said: Whatever you read from the Quran [beginning with] "O you who have believed," it is in the Torah [as] "O you the needy."
3891 - My father narrated to us, Nu'aym ibn Hammad narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, Mis'ar informed us, Ma'n and 'Awn narrated to me, or one of them, that a man came to 'Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud and said: "Advise me." He said: "When you hear Allah, the Exalted, saying: 'O you who have believed,' then lend it your hearing, for it is either some good He is commanding, or some evil He is forbidding."
3892 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "O you who have believed," he said: It was revealed concerning Tha'labah ibn Ghanamah al-Ansari.
[The Second Aspect]
3893 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan informed us, Salamah narrated to us, and Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: The reliable [source] narrated to me, from Zayd ibn Aslam, who said: And it was revealed concerning Uways ibn Qayzi and Jabbar ibn Sakhr, and those who were with them from their people, who had acted upon what Shas ibn Qays had introduced among them of the affairs of the pre-Islamic era: "O you who have believed, if you obey a party of those who were given the Scripture."
