His saying, the Exalted: "And how can you disbelieve"
3898 - Al-Husayn ibn al-Sakan narrated to us, Abu Zayd al-Nahwi narrated to us, Qays ibn al-Rabi' informed us, from al-Agharr ibn al-Sabah, from Khalifah ibn Husayn, from Abu Nasr, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: There was war between the Aws and the Khazraj in the pre-Islamic era regarding everything. While they were sitting one day, they mentioned what was between them until they became angry, and some of them stood against others with weapons, so it was revealed: "And how can you disbelieve while to you are being recited the verses of Allah and among you is His Messenger?" [up to] the entire verse.
His saying, the Exalted: "While to you are being recited the verses of Allah and among you is His Messenger"
3899 - Musa ibn Harun al-Tusi reported to us in what he wrote to me, al-Husayn ibn Muhammad al-Marwudhi narrated to us, Shayban ibn 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "And how can you disbelieve while to you are being recited the verses of Allah and among you is His Messenger," he said: Two clear signs: the Prophet of Allah and the Book of Allah. As for the Prophet of Allah, he has passed on, upon him be prayer and peace; and as for the Book of Allah, Allah has left it among you as a mercy and blessing from Allah, containing its lawful and unlawful, its obedience and its disobedience.
His saying, the Exalted: "And whoever holds fast to Allah"
3900 - My father narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Rafi' narrated to us, Sulayman—meaning, Ibn 'Amir—narrated to us, from al-Rabi' ibn Anas, regarding His saying: "And whoever holds fast to Allah," and holding fast (al-i'tisam) is: reliance upon Allah.
3901 - 'Ali ibn al-Mubarak reported to us in what he wrote to me, Zayd ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, Ibn Thawr narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, regarding "And whoever holds fast to Allah," he said: He believes in Allah.
His saying, the Exalted: "Then indeed he has been guided to a straight path"
3902 - My father mentioned it, Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Ja'far narrated to us, from his father, from al-Rabi', he attributed the Hadith to the Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, that he said: Indeed, Allah has decreed upon Himself that whoever believes in Him, He will guide him, and whoever relies upon Him, He will save him. Al-Rabi' said: The verification of that is in the Book of Allah: "And whoever holds fast to Allah, then indeed he has been guided to a straight path."
