His saying, the Exalted: "Knowing, Wise"

5013 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Zunayj narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Ishaq narrated to us: "Knowing" means He is Knowing of what you conceal; "the Wise" in His excuse and His proof to His servants.

His saying, the Exalted: "And repentance is not for those who do evil deeds"

5014 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, Wahb ibn Jarir narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Ibrahim ibn Maymun, from a man from Balharith ibn Ka'b, a man from among us called Ayyub narrated to us, who said: I heard Abdullah ibn 'Amr saying: Whoever repents one year before his death, it is accepted from him, until he said: "one month," until he said: "one week," until he said: "one day," until he said: "one hour," until he said: "before the time it takes for a camel to be milked." I said: Glory be to Allah! Did Allah the Exalted not say: "And repentance is not for those who do evil deeds until, when death approaches one of them, he says:" He replied: I only narrate to you what I heard from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

5015 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Ja'far narrated to us, from his father, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah regarding His saying: "And repentance is not for those who do evil deeds," he said: This is regarding the people of hypocrisy (Nifaq).

5016 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Isma'il ibn Muhammad ibn Jahadah narrated to us, who said: I asked Sufyan al-Thawri about His saying: "And repentance is not for those who do evil deeds," he said: Shirk (associating partners with Allah).

His saying, the Exalted: "Until, when death approaches one of them"

5017 - al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, al-Thawri informed us, from Ya'la ibn Nu'man, who said: Someone who heard from Ibn 'Umar informed me that he said: Repentance is extended to the servant as long as he does not reach the death rattle (suq). Then Ibn 'Umar recited: "Until, when death approaches one of them," and said: And is the "approach" anything other than the death rattle?

5018 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Isma'il ibn Muhammad ibn Jahadah narrated to us, who said: I asked Sufyan al-Thawri about His saying: "Until, when death approaches one of them," he said: When he witnesses [the afterlife].
