The report that contains [the sin of] causing harm in a will:
5209 - My father narrated to us, Abu al-Nadr Ishaq ibn Ibrahim al-Faradisi al-Dimashqi narrated to us, 'Umar ibn al-Mughirah narrated to us, Dawud ibn Abi Hind narrated to us, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas, from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), who said: "Causing harm in a will is among the major sins."
5210 - Harun ibn Ishaq al-Hamdani narrated to us, Abu Khalid narrated to us, from Dawud ibn Abi Hind, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: Causing harm in a will is among the major sins.
Those who considered plundering (al-nuhbah) to be among the major sins:
5211 - Al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah narrated to us, Isma'il ibn 'Ulayyah narrated to us, from Khalid al-Hadhdha', from Humayd ibn Hilal, from Abu Qatadah, who said: The letter of 'Umar was read to us: Among the major sins are fleeing from the battlefield and plundering.
Those who considered breaking the oath of allegiance and separating from the community to be among the major sins:
5212 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, Abu Ahmad—meaning: al-Zubayri—narrated to us, 'Ali ibn Salih narrated to us, from 'Uthman ibn al-Mughirah, from Malik ibn Juwayn, from 'Ali, who said: The major sins are: associating partners with Allah, killing a soul, consuming the wealth of an orphan, slandering a chaste woman, fleeing from the battlefield, reverting to bedouin life after the migration, witchcraft, disobedience to parents, consuming usury, separating from the community, and breaking the oath of allegiance.
Those who considered withholding the water of floods, springs, and valleys, and the covering of the stallion except for a fee, to be among the major sins:
5213 - Al-Mundhir ibn Shadhan narrated to us, Ya'la ibn 'Ubayd narrated to us, Salih ibn Hayyan narrated to us, from Ibn Buraydah, from his father, who said: The greatest of the major sins are: associating partners with Allah, disobedience to parents, withholding surplus water after irrigation, and withholding the covering of the stallion except for a fee.
What has been mentioned regarding the collection of the qualities of the major sins:
5214 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Waki' narrated to us, al-A'mash narrated to us, from Ibrahim, from 'Alqamah, from 'Abd Allah, who said: The major sins are [everything found] from the beginning of Surat al-Nisa' up to His saying: "If you avoid the major sins which you are forbidden..."
