5274 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salamah narrated to us, he said: Hammad said: I said to Humayd: "What is al-mubarrich (the injurious strike)?" Humayd said: I said to al-Hasan: "What is al-mubarrich?" He said: "That which leaves no mark."
5275 - Muhammad ibn Isma'il al-Ahmasi narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-Salt narrated to us, from Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah, from Ibn Jurayj, from 'Ata' regarding the saying of Allah the Exalted: "And strike them," he said: With a siwak (toothstick) or its equivalent.

5276 - Sulayman ibn Dawud, the freed slave of 'Abd Allah ibn Ja'far ibn Abi Talib, narrated to us, 'Uthman ibn 'Uthman narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahim and 'Ubaydah, meaning: Ibn Humayd, narrated to us, from al-Hasan ibn 'Ubayd Allah al-Nakha'i, from Muslim ibn Subayh, who said: I heard Ibn 'Abbas saying regarding His saying: "Then if they obey you," he said: If she obeys him in the bed, then he should not seek any means against her. Something similar was narrated from 'Ikrimah.

5277 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding his saying: "Seek not a way against them," he says: If she obeys you, do not manufacture excuses against her. Something similar was narrated from 'Ata' and Qatadah.

5278 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Abu Wahb Muhammad ibn Muzahim reported from Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan regarding His saying: "Seek not a way against them," so Allah has forbidden striking them in the event of obedience.
His saying the Exalted: "Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Grand"
5279 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Ishaq ibn Sulayman narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Abi Qays narrated to us, from Mutarrif, from al-Minhal ibn 'Amr, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas who said: A man came to him and said: O Abu 'Abbas, I heard Allah saying: "And Allah was..." as if it were a thing that once was. He (Ibn 'Abbas) said: As for His saying: "And Allah was," it means He has always existed and will always exist, and He is the First, the Last, the Manifest, and the Hidden.
٥٢٧٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ حَمَّادٌ: فَقُلْتُ لِحُمَيْدٍ: الْمُبَرِّحُ؟ قَالَ حُمَيْدٌ: فَقُلْتُ لِلْحَسَنِ: مَا الْمُبَرِّحُ؟ قَالَ: غَيْرُ الْمُؤَثِّرِ.
٥٢٧٥ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الأَحْمَسِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّلْت، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى وَاضْرِبُوهُنَّ قَالَ: بِالسِّوَاكِ وَنَحْوِهِ.

٥٢٧٦ - حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ مَوْلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ، وَعُبَيْدَةُ يَعْنِي: ابْنَ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ النَّخَعِيِّ، عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ صُبَيْحٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ فِي قَوْلِهِ: فَإِنْ أَطَعْنَكُمْ قَالَ: فَإِنْ أَطَاعَتْهُ فِي الْمَضْجَعِ فَلا يَبْغِي عَلَيْهَا سَبِيلا- وَرُوِيَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: فَلا تَبْغُوا عَلَيْهِنَّ سَبِيلا

٥٢٧٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَوْلَهُ: فَلا تَبْغُوا عَلَيْهِنَّ سَبِيلا يَقُولُ: إِذَا أَطَاعَتْكَ فَلا تَتَجَنَّ عَلَيْهَا العلل- وَرُوِيَ عَنِ عَطَاءٍ وَقَتَادَةَ نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.

٥٢٧٨ - قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، أَنْبَأَ أَبُو وَهْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ ابْنُ مُزَاحِمٍ، عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ مَعْرُوفٍ، عَنْ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ قَوْلَهُ: فَلا تَبْغُوا عَلَيْهِنَّ سَبِيلا فَحَرَّمَ اللَّهُ ضَرْبَهُنَّ عِنْدَ الطَّاعَةِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيّاً كَبِيراً
٥٢٧٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي قَيْسٍ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ، عَنِ الْمِنْهَالِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جبي، ر عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ:
أَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ: يَا أَبَا عَبَّاسٍ: سَمِعْتُ اللَّهَ يَقُولُ: وَكَانَ اللَّهُ كَأَنَّهُ شَيْءٌ كَانَ، قَالَ:
أَمَّا قَوْلُهُ: وَكَانَ اللَّهُ فَإِنَّهُ لَمْ يَزَلْ، وَلا يَزَالُ وَهُوَ الأَوَّلُ وَالآخِرُ وَالظَّاهِرُ وَالْبَاطِنُ.
