Translation · EN

His saying, the Exalted: "And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire."

3930 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim narrated to us, Ahmad ibn al-Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, then He saved you," he says: You were on the brink of the Fire; whoever among you died fell into the Fire.

His saying, the Exalted: "Then He saved you from it."

3931 - And by the same chain from al-Suddi regarding "Then He saved you from it," he said: Allah sent Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and He saved you through him from that pit.

3932 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim narrated to us, from Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan regarding His saying: "And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, then He saved you from it," he said: Allah saved you from shirk (polytheism) unto belief.

His saying, the Exalted: "Thus Allah makes clear to you His verses."

3933 - Abu Bakr ibn Abi Musa narrated to us, Harun ibn Hatim narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hammad narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, from Abu Malik regarding His saying: "Thus," meaning: in this manner.

3934 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn Bukayr narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah, the Exalted: "to you His verses," meaning: that which He has made clear in this verse.

His saying, the Exalted: "That you may be guided."

3935 - Musa ibn Abi Musa al-Ansari narrated to us, Harun ibn Hatim narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hammad narrated to us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi, from Abu Malik regarding His saying: "that," meaning: so that.

His saying, the Exalted: "And let there be from among you."

3936 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim narrated to us, from Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan regarding His saying: "And let there be from among you a nation [ummah]," he says: Let there be from among you a group, meaning: one, two, or three individuals, and anything above that.
