His saying, the Exalted: "of the Scripture"

5383 - And by the same chain from Abu Malik, regarding his saying: "of the Scripture," he said: From the Torah.

His saying, the Exalted: "They purchase error"

5384 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, Abu Ja'far al-Razi narrated to us, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah, regarding his saying: "They purchase error," he says: They choose error.

5385 - Al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma'mar informed us, from Qatadah, regarding his saying: "They purchase error," he said: They favor error.

His saying, the Exalted: "error"

5386 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan informed us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad informed me, from 'Ikrimah or Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding his saying: "error," meaning: disbelief.

His saying, the Exalted: "They wish that you would lose the way. And Allah is most knowing of your enemies; and sufficient is Allah as an ally and sufficient is Allah as a helper."

5387 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan informed us, Salamah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said, and Muhammad, the freed slave of Zayd ibn Thabit, informed me, from 'Ikrimah, he said: Kardam ibn Zayd, an ally of Ka'b ibn al-Ashraf, Usamah ibn Habib, Rafi' ibn Abi Rafi', Bahr ibn 'Amr, Huyayy ibn Akhtab, and Rifa'ah ibn Zayd used to come to some men of the Ansar, mixing with them and offering them advice from the companions of Muhammad. They would say: "Do not spend your wealth, for we fear poverty for you if it is gone, and do not be hasty in giving, for you do not know what will happen." So Allah the Exalted revealed: "They wish that you would lose the way. And Allah is most knowing of your enemies; and sufficient is Allah as an ally and sufficient is Allah as a helper."
