3949 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Ibn Numayr narrated to us, 'Ubayd Allah ibn Musa narrated to us, Abu Isra'il al-Mula'i informed us, from Abu Khalid, from al-Sha'bi regarding "On the Day [when] faces will become white and faces will become black," he said: This is for the people of the Qiblah.
3950 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Ali ibn Hamzah al-Marwazi narrated to us, Hafs ibn 'Umar al-Muqri' narrated to us, 'Ali ibn Qudamah narrated to us, from Mujashi' ibn 'Amr, from 'Abd al-Karim al-Jazari, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "On the Day [when] faces will become white and faces will become black," he said: The faces of the people of the Sunnah and the Community (Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah) will become white.
His saying, the Exalted: "And faces will become black."
[The First Aspect]
3951 - And through this chain, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding "And faces will become black," he said: The faces of the people of innovation and misguidance will become black.
3952 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Ibn Numayr narrated to us, 'Ubayd Allah ibn Musa narrated to us, Abu Isra'il al-Mula'i narrated to us, from Abu Khalid, from al-Sha'bi regarding His saying: "On the Day [when] faces will become white and faces will become black," he said: This is for the people of the Qiblah.
And the Second Aspect:
3953 - Al-Hasan ibn Ahmad narrated to us, Musa ibn Muhkam narrated to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi narrated to us, 'Abbad ibn Mansur narrated to us from al-Hasan regarding His saying: "On the Day [when] faces will become white and faces will become black," he said: They are the hypocrites who gave the word of faith with their tongues, but denied it in their hearts and their deeds.
And the Third Aspect:
3954 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Marwan narrated to us, Husayn al-Ashqar narrated to us, Abu Qutaybah narrated to us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak, meaning His saying: "And faces will become black," he said: They are the Jews.
His saying, the Exalted: "Then as for those whose faces became black."
3955 - Abu Badr 'Abbad ibn al-Walid al-Khayyat narrated to us, who said: I asked Abu Ghalib about [the verse]: "Then as for those whose faces became black: 'Did you disbelieve after your belief? Then taste the punishment for what you used to disbelieve,'" and he said: Abu Umamah narrated to me from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) that they are the Khawarij.
