The Second Aspect:

5653 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Whatever of good reaches you, it is from Allah," he said: What Allah granted you of victory on the day of Badr. It was narrated from al-Dahhak similarly.

His saying, the Exalted: "Of good."

5654 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Whatever of good reaches you, it is from Allah," he said: What reached you of spoils and victory. It was narrated from al-Dahhak similarly.

His saying, the Exalted: "It is from Allah."

5655 - And with the same chain, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Whatever of good reaches you, it is from Allah," he said: As for the good, Allah has bestowed it upon you.

His saying, the Exalted: "And whatever befalls you."

5656 - And with the same chain, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And whatever befalls you of evil," he said: On the day of Uhud.

His saying, the Exalted: "Of evil."

5657 - My father narrated to us, Abu Taqi Hisham ibn 'Abd al-Malik narrated to us, Baqiyyah narrated to us, from Mubashshir, from Hajjaj, from 'Atiyyah al-'Awfi, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And whatever befalls you of evil, it is from yourself," he said: This is on the day of Uhud. He says: Whatever misfortune occurred, it was by your sin, and I had decreed that upon you.

5658 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And whatever befalls you of evil"—and the evil is what befell him on the day of Uhud, that his face was struck and his canine tooth was broken.

His saying, the Exalted: "It is from yourself."

5659 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "It is from yourself," he said: As for the evil, Allah has tested you with it.
