Hakim, from his father, that he heard the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say regarding His saying: "You are the best nation produced for mankind," he said: You complete seventy nations; you are the best of them and the most noble of them to Allah.

The Second Aspect:

3968 - al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Isra'il informed us, from Simak, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding: "You are the best nation produced for mankind," he said: They are those who migrated with Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, to Medina. It was narrated from Sa'id ibn Jubayr similarly.

The Third Aspect:

3969 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, 'Abd Allah narrated to us, from Isra'il, from al-Suddi, from whom he narrated from 'Umar: "You are the best nation produced for mankind," he said: It is for our first [generation] and not for our last [generation].

3970 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi narrated to us, Ahmad ibn al-Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi: "You are the best nation produced for mankind," he said: 'Umar ibn al-Khattab said: If Allah, the Exalted, had willed, He would have said: "You are [antum]," so we would all be included. But He said: "You were [kuntum]," referring specifically to the companions of Muhammad and whoever follows their path; they were the best nation produced for mankind.

The Fourth Aspect:

3971 - My father narrated to us, Qabisah narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Maysarah—meaning the son of 'Ammar, and he is not the son of Habib—from Abu Hazim, from Abu Hurayrah: "You are the best nation produced for mankind," he said: The best of people for the people; they are brought with chains around their necks until He makes them enter into Islam.

3972 - My father narrated to us, al-Qasim ibn Muhammad ibn al-Harith narrated to us, 'Ali ibn al-Hasan ibn Shaqiq narrated to us, from al-Husayn ibn Waqid, from Yazid al-Nahwi, from 'Ikrimah regarding: "You are the best nation produced for mankind," he said: The best of people for the people. It was before you that one person would not be safe in the land of another, nor would the other in his land. But whenever you are present, the red and the black are safe among you, and you are the best of people for the people.
