5672 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Waki' narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, he said: A 'party' (ta'ifah) is one man.

5673 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Zayd ibn Hubab narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Abu Bishr, from Mujahid, he said: A 'party' is from one man to one thousand men.

His saying, the Exalted: "...other than what you say."

5674 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd al-'Awfi informed me in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my paternal uncle narrated to me, my father narrated to me, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "...other than what you say," meaning what the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said.

His saying, the Exalted: "And Allah writes down what they plot."

[The First Aspect]

5675 - al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid ibn Mazid al-Bayruti informed me by way of reading, Muhammad ibn Shu'ayb (meaning Ibn Shabur) informed me, 'Uthman ibn 'Ata' informed me, from his father regarding His saying: "And Allah writes down what they plot," he said: They alter what the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) says.

And the Second Aspect:

5676 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "And Allah writes down what they plot," he says: What they say.

His saying, the Exalted: "So turn away from them and rely upon Allah; and sufficient is Allah as a Disposer of affairs."

5677 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Zunayj narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Ishaq said regarding His saying: "And rely upon Allah," meaning: Be content with Him instead of the people.

His saying, the Exalted: "Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an?"

5678 - My father narrated to us, Surayj ibn Yunus narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Yazid al-Wasiti narrated to us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak regarding "Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an?" He said: Looking into it.

His saying, the Exalted: "And if it had been from [any] other than Allah, they would have found within it much contradiction."

5679 - My father narrated to us, 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn al-Mughirah narrated to us, Yazid ibn Zuray', from Sa'id, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an? And if it had been from [any] other than Allah, they would have found within it much contradiction," meaning: The word of Allah is not contradicted; it is truth with no falsehood in it, unlike the speech of people, which is contradictory.
