5680 - My father narrated to me, from Abu Salih, the scribe of al-Layth, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam narrated to me, he said: I heard Ibn al-Munkadir saying, and he recited: "And if it had been from [any] other than Allah, they would have found within it much contradiction." He said: Indeed, contradiction comes from the hearts of the servants, but as for what comes from Allah, there is no contradiction in it.

His saying, the Exalted: "And when there comes to them information about public security or fear."

5681 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "And when there comes to them information about public security or fear," he says: When there comes to them news that they are secure from their enemy or that they are afraid of them.

His saying, the Exalted: "...they spread it."

5682 - Yazid ibn Sinan al-Basri narrated to us, 'Umar ibn Yunus narrated to us, 'Ikrimah ibn 'Ammar narrated to us, from Simak Abu Zumayl, 'Abdullah ibn 'Abbas narrated to me, 'Umar ibn al-Khattab narrated to me, he said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) isolated himself from his wives, I entered the mosque, and there were people striking the ground with pebbles, saying: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has divorced his wives, and that was before he was commanded to observe the hijab (seclusion). 'Umar said: So I stood at the door of the mosque and called out at the top of my voice: He has not divorced his wives. And this verse was revealed concerning me: "And when there comes to them information about public security or fear, they spread it."

5683 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd al-'Awfi informed me in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my paternal uncle narrated to me, my father narrated to me, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And when there comes to them information about public security or fear, they spread it," he says: They publicized it and sought to circulate it. It has been narrated from 'Ikrimah, Qatadah, and 'Ata' al-Khurasani something similar.

5684 - Ahmad ibn al-Azhar al-Naysaburi informed me in what he wrote to me, Wahb ibn Jarir narrated to us, my father narrated to us, from 'Ali ibn al-Hakam, from al-Dahhak: "They spread it," he says: They publicized it and sought to circulate it, and they are the people of hypocrisy.
