Translation · EN

His saying, the Exalted: "And you enjoin the good and believe in Allah."

3978 - Through the same chain from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "and you enjoin the good," and the Munkar (evil): it is denial, and it is the most evil of evil.

3979 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah narrated to us, 'Abd Allah narrated to me, 'Ata' narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "and believe in Allah," meaning: You affirm the oneness of Allah (Tawhid).

His saying, the Exalted: "And if the People of the Scripture had believed, it would have been better for them."

3980 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-'Ala' narrated to us, 'Uthman ibn Sa'id narrated to us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah narrated to us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "believed," he said: Affirmed.

His saying, the Exalted: "Among them are believers."

3981 - Musa ibn Harun al-Tusi informed us in what he wrote to me, al-Husayn ibn Muhammad al-Marwudhi narrated to us, Shayban narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "Among them are believers," he said: Allah excepted three from them who were upon guidance and truth.

His saying, the Exalted: "but most of them are defiantly disobedient."

3982 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abs ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray', narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "but most of them are defiantly disobedient," he said: Allah condemned most of the people.

His saying, the Exalted: "defiantly disobedient."

3983 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya narrated to us, 'Abd Allah narrated to me, 'Ata' narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah the Exalted: "defiantly disobedient," meaning: they are the disobedient ones.

His saying, the Exalted: "They will not harm you except for annoyance. And if they fight you, they will show you their backs; then they will not be aided."

3984 - Al-Hasan ibn Ahmad narrated to us, Musa ibn Muhkam narrated to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi informed us, 'Abbad ibn Mansur narrated to us, he said: I asked al-Hasan about His saying: "They will not harm you except for annoyance. And if they fight you, they will show you their backs; then they will not be aided," and he said: They hear lies about Allah, inviting you to misguidance. It was narrated from Qatadah and al-Rabi' something similar.
