His saying, Exalted is He: "They are unable to devise a plan."
5872 - My father narrated to us, Abu Ma'mar al-Minqari narrated to us, 'Abd al-Warith narrated to us, 'Ali ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) raised his hand after he had finished the prayer while facing the qiblah, and said: "O Allah, save al-Walid ibn al-Walid, 'Ayyash ibn Abi Rabi'ah, Salamah ibn Hisham, and the weak ones among the Muslims who are unable to devise a plan and cannot find a way out, from the hands of the disbelievers."
5873 - Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Yazid al-Muqri' narrated to us, Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah narrated to us, from 'Amr, from 'Ikrimah regarding His saying: "Unable to devise a plan," he said: "The means to set out for Medina."
5874 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "Unable to devise a plan," he said: "A plan regarding wealth."
His saying, Exalted is He: "And they cannot find a way."
5875 - Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Yazid al-Muqri' narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from 'Amr, from 'Ikrimah regarding His saying: "And they cannot find a way," he said: "A road to it," meaning Medina. It was narrated from Mujahid and al-Suddi the same as this.
His saying, Exalted is He: "For those, it is expected that Allah will pardon them; and Allah is Ever-Pardoning, Oft-Forgiving."
5876 - My father narrated to us, 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn al-Mughirah narrated to us, Yazid ibn Zuray' informed us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "Unable to devise a plan and cannot find a way," they are people from the people of Mecca whom Allah has excused and excepted. "For those, it is expected that Allah will pardon them; and Allah is Ever-Pardoning, Oft-Forgiving."
His saying, Exalted is He: "And whoever emigrates for the cause of Allah."
5877 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim informed us, from Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan regarding His saying: "And whoever emigrates for the cause of Allah," meaning: whoever emigrated to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) in Medina.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ الْمِنْقَرِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ، ثنا عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَن ّرَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَفَعَ يَدَهُ بَعْدَ مَا سَلَّمَ وَهُوَ مُسْتَقْبِلٌ الْقِبْلَةَ، فَقَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ خَلِّصِ الْوَلِيدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ، وَعَيَّاشَ بْنَ أَبِي رَبِيعَةَ، وَسَلَمَةَ بْنَ هِشَامٍ، وَضَعَفَةَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ حِيلَةً وَلا يَهْتَدُونَ سَبِيلا مِنْ أَيْدِي الْكُفَّارِ.
٥٨٧٣ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْمُقْرِئُ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ فِي قَوْلِهِ: لا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ حِيلَةً قَالَ: نُهُوضاً إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ.
٥٨٧٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ الأَوْدِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُفَضَّلٍ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ قَوْلَهُ: لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ حِيلَةً قَالَ: حِيلَةً فِي الْمَالِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلا يَهْتَدُونَ سَبِيلا

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْمُقْرِئُ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ قَوْلَهُ: وَلا يَهْتَدُونَ سَبِيلا قَالَ: طَرِيقاً إِلَيْهَا يَعْنِي الْمَدِينَةَ. وَرُوِيَ عَنِ مُجَاهِدٍ وَالسُّدِّيِّ مِثْلُ ذَلِكَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: فَأُولَئِكَ عَسَى اللَّهُ أَنْ (يَعْفُوَ) عَنْهُمْ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عفواً غفورا
٥٨٧٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ، أَنْبَأَ يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلَهُ: لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ حِيلَةً وَلا يَهْتَدُونَ سَبِيلا أُنَاسٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ عَذَرَهُمُ اللَّهُ وَاسْتَثْنَاهُمْ، فَأُولَئِكَ عَسَى اللَّهُ أَنْ (يَعْفُوَ) عَنْهُمْ، وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَفُوًّا غَفُورًا.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَمَنْ يُهَاجِرْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهَ
٥٨٧٧ - قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، أَنْبَأَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُزَاحِمٍ عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ مَعْرُوفٍ، عَنْ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ قَوْلَهُ: وَمَنْ يُهَاجِرْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي:
