[His saying, Exalted is He: "And abundance"]

[The First Interpretation]

5884 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas: He said: Abundance means: Provision. It was narrated from al-Dahhak, al-Rabi' ibn Anas, and Muqatil ibn Hayyan something similar.

[The Second Interpretation]

5885 - Al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid ibn Mazid al-Bayruti informed us, reading it, Muhammad ibn Shu'ayb informed us, 'Uthman ibn 'Ata' informed me, from his father regarding His saying: "And abundance," he said: And ease.

[The Third Interpretation]

5886 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, he said: It was read before al-Harith ibn Miskin while I was listening, Ibn al-Qasim informed us, he said: Malik was asked about the saying of Allah the Exalted: "And abundance," and he said: And abundance means: Spaciousness of the lands.

His saying, Exalted is He: "And whoever leaves his home as an emigrant to Allah and His Messenger"

[The First Interpretation]

5887 - Ahmad ibn Mansur al-Ramadi narrated to us, Abu Ahmad al-Zubayri narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Sharik narrated to us, from 'Amr ibn Dinar, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: There was a man in Mecca called Damrah from the Banu Bakr, and he was sick. He said to his family: "Take me out of Mecca, for I find the heat unbearable." They said: "Where shall we take you?" He pointed with his hand toward Medina. He died (on the way), and this verse was revealed: "And whoever leaves his home as an emigrant to Allah and His Messenger, then death overtakes him, his reward has already become incumbent upon Allah."

5888 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Abd al-Malik ibn Shaybah al-Hizami narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Mughirah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman al-Hizami narrated to me, from al-Mundhir ibn 'Abd Allah, from Hisham ibn 'Urwah, from his father, that al-Zubayr ibn al-'Awwam said: Khalid ibn Hizam emigrated to the land of Abyssinia, and a snake bit him on the road and he died. It was regarding him that it was revealed: "And whoever leaves his home as an emigrant to Allah and His Messenger, then death overtakes him, his reward has already become incumbent upon Allah, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful." Al-Zubayr said: "I was anticipating him and waiting for his arrival while I was in the land of Abyssinia. Nothing saddened me as much as his passing did when it reached me, because there was hardly anyone who emigrated from the Quraysh except that he had some of his family or kin with him, and there was no one with me from the Banu Asad ibn 'Abd al-'Uzza, and I had no hope in anyone else."

Notes
