Translation · EN

4041 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim informed us, from Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "They have wished for what causes you distress," he says: The hypocrites wished for what causes the believers distress in their religion.

His saying, the Exalted: "Hatred has already appeared from their mouths"

4042 - Musa ibn Harun al-Tusi informed us in what he wrote to me, al-Husayn ibn Muhammad al-Marwudhi narrated to us, Shayban narrated to us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "Hatred has already appeared from their mouths," he says: From the mouths of the hypocrites to their brothers among the disbelievers, their deceit toward Islam and its people, and their hatred for it.

It is also narrated from al-Rabi' ibn Anas that he said: From the mouths of the hypocrites.

His saying, the Exalted: "And what their chests conceal is greater. We have certainly made clear to you the signs, if you are those who use reason."

4043 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Ja'far narrated to us, from his father, from al-Rabi' ibn Anas, regarding His saying: "And what their chests conceal is greater," he says: What their chests contain is greater than what they have revealed with their tongues.

It is also narrated from Qatadah that he said: Greater than what appeared from their tongues.

His saying, the Exalted: "If you are those who use reason"

4044 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj informed us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam regarding "Perhaps you will use reason," he said: You contemplate.

His saying, the Exalted: "Here you are"

4045 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim informed us, from Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding "Here you are," [meaning] O company of the Ansar.

His saying, the Exalted: "You love them, but they do not love you"

[The first interpretation]

4046 - Al-Hasan ibn Ahmad narrated to us, Musa ibn Muhkam narrated to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi narrated to us, 'Abbad ibn Mansur narrated to us, he said: I asked al-Hasan about His saying: "Here you are, you love them, but they do not love you." He said: They are the hypocrites; they associate with you with their tongues in faith, and they make you love them for that.
