Abbad ibn Mansur said: I asked al-Hasan regarding His saying: "If good touches you, it distresses them." He said: Allah informed the believers about their enemy and said: "If a good thing befalls you, that distresses them."

4060 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "If good touches you, it distresses them," [meaning:] when they see unity, togetherness, and dominance over their enemy among the people of Islam, that enrages and distresses them.

His saying, the Exalted: "It distresses them"

4061 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim informed us, from Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "If good touches you," meaning: victory over the enemy, provision, and goodness, that distresses the Jews; meaning the people of Qurayza and al-Nadir.

His saying, the Exalted: "And if evil befalls you"

4062 - I read to Muhammad ibn Yahya, al-'Abbas al-Walid informed us, Yazid narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And if evil befalls you, they rejoice at it." He said: When they see discord and disagreement among the people of Islam, or if a part of the Muslims suffers harm, that pleases them; they are amazed and delighted by it. They are as you have seen: every time a generation of them emerges, Allah declares their individual falsehood, humbles their position, invalidates their argument, and exposes their shame. That is Allah's decree regarding those of them who have passed and those who remain until the Day of Resurrection.

4064 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim narrated to us, from Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "They rejoice at it," meaning the Jews.

His saying, the Exalted: "But if you are patient and fear Allah, their plot will not harm you at all"

4065 - And by the same chain from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "But if you are patient and fear Allah, their plot will not harm you at all," He says: Their speech will not harm you at all.
