His saying, the Exalted: "And upon Allah let the believers rely."

4079 - Through the same chain [as the previous, i.e., Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas, Zunayj, Salamah], he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: Allah the Exalted says: "And upon Allah let the believers rely," meaning, whoever among the believers has weakness or frailty, let him rely upon Me, and I shall assist him in his affair and defend him, until I bring him to his goal and strengthen him in his intention.

His saying, the Exalted: "And already had Allah given you victory at Badr."

4080 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj informed us, Waki' narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Yahya ibn Sa'id, from 'Abayah ibn Rifa'ah ibn Rafi' that Jibril said to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ): "How do you count the martyrs of Badr among you?" He said: "The best of us." He said: "That is how we count those who witnessed Badr among the angels, among us."

4081 - Al-Ahmas narrated to us, Waki' narrated to us, from Sufyan, from 'Abd Allah ibn 'Uthman ibn Khuthaym, from Mujahid—meaning His saying: "And already had Allah given you victory at Badr"—he said: The angels did not fight except on the day of Badr.

His saying, the Exalted: "at Badr"

4082 - My father narrated to us, Abu Nu'aym narrated to us, Zakariya narrated to us, from 'Amir al-Sha'bi, who says: Badr was only [named so] for a man called Badr—meaning: a well.

4083 - Al-Ahmasi narrated to us, Waki' narrated to us, from Zakariya, from 'Amir, who said: Badr was only named as such because it was a well belonging to a man named Badr.

4084 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, 'Abd Allah narrated to us, from his father, from al-Rabi' regarding His saying: "And already had Allah given you victory at Badr," and Badr is a water [source/well] between Makkah and al-Madinah.

His saying, the Exalted: "while you were few (humiliated)"

4085 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Khalid narrated to us, from al-Hajjaj, from al-Hakam, from Miqsam, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: The number of the people of Badr was three hundred and thirteen men. And it was narrated from Maymun ibn Mihran similarly.
