His saying, the Exalted: "Do not consume interest, doubled and multiplied"
4138 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Waki' narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Ibn Jurayj, from Mujahid, who said: They used to trade with a deferred term, so it was revealed: "Do not consume interest, doubled and multiplied."
4139 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "O you who have believed, do not consume interest, doubled and multiplied," the interest of the Jahiliyyah.
4140 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Ja'far narrated to us, from his father, from al-Rabi' ibn Anas, regarding His saying: "O you who have believed, do not consume interest, doubled and multiplied," he said: Allah, the Exalted, forbade interest with the severest of prohibitions... so fear interest and suspicion. He used to say: Interest is one of the major sins.
4141 - Musa ibn Harun al-Tusi informed us in what he wrote to me, al-Husayn ibn Muhammad al-Marwudhi narrated to us, Shayban narrated to us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "O you who have believed, do not consume interest, doubled and multiplied," he said: Beware of what is mixed with these trades of interest, for Allah has widened the lawful, made it abundant, and made it good; and let not poverty compel you to disobedience.
His saying, the Exalted: "Doubled and multiplied"
4142 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding the saying of Allah, the Exalted: "O you who have believed, do not consume interest, doubled and multiplied," and that is because a man would have wealth owed to him by a man, and when it reached its term, he would demand it from his companion. The debtor would say: "Delay for me, and I will add to your wealth," and they would do that. That is the interest of "doubled and multiplied." So Allah, the Exalted, exhorted them. It was narrated from Muqatil ibn Hayyan similarly.
His saying, the Exalted: "And fear Allah"
4143 - And through the same chain, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr: "And fear Allah" in the matter of interest, so do not consume it.

فِي قَوْلِهِ: يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَأْكُلُوا الربوا أَضْعَافاً مُضَاعَفَةً رِبَا الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ
٤١٤٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أحمد عبد الرحم، ن ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ قَوْلَهُ: يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَأْكُلُوا الربوا أَضْعَافاً مُضَاعَفَةً قَالَ:
نَهَى اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنِ الرِّبَا كَأَشَدِّ النَّهْيِ (....) «٣» فَاتَّقُوا الرِّبَا «٤» وَالرِّيبَةَ وَكَانَ يَقُولُ:
الرِّبَا مِنَ الْكَبَائِرِ.
٤١٤١ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ الطُّوسِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَرُّوذِيُّ ثنا شَيْبَانُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَأْكُلُوا الربوا أَضْعَافاً مُضَاعَفَةً قَالَ: إِيَّاكُمْ وَمَا خَالَطَ هَذِهِ الْبُيُوعَ مِنَ الرِّبَا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ أَوْسَعَ الْحَلالَ وَأَكْثَرَهُ وَأَطَابَهُ، وَلا يُلْجِئَنَّكُمْ إِلَى الْمَعْصِيَةِ فَاقَةٌ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: أَضْعَافاً مُضَاعَفَةً
٤١٤٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى: يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تأكلوا الربوا أَضْعَافاً مُضَاعَفَةً وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ الرَّجُلَ كَانَ يَكُونُ لَهُ عَلَى الرَّجُلِ مَالٌ فَإِذَا حَلَّ لأَجَلٍ طَلَبَهُ مِنْ صَاحِبِهِ، فَيَقُولُ الْمَطْلُوبُ أَخِّرْ عَنِّي وَأَزِيدُكَ فِي مَالِكَ، فَيَفْعَلانِ ذَلِكَ فَذَلِكَ الرِّبَا أَضْعَافاً مُضَاعَفَةً، فَوَعَظَهُمُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى وَرُوِيَ عَنِ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ
٤١٤٣ - وَبِهِ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّه فِي أَمْرِ الرِّبَا فَلا تَأْكُلُوا.
