Tafsir Ibn Abi Hatim
Volume 3 · Page 5[Surah Ali 'Imran (3): Verse 95]

Translation · EN

Sulayman, from al-Dahhak regarding His saying: "So whoever invents a lie about Allah after that, then those are the wrongdoers." He said: They lied and fabricated, and the Torah did not reveal that. Abu Muhammad said: He means by the prohibition of the sinews.

His saying: "Say, 'Allah has spoken the truth. So follow the religion of Abraham..."

3826 - Usayd ibn 'Asim narrated to us, al-Husayn, meaning Ibn Hafs, narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Layla, from 'Abdullah ibn Abi Mulaykah, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr, who said: Gabriel set out with Abraham (may Allah bless them both), and he led him in prayer in Mina, [offering] the Dhuhr, 'Asr, Maghrib, 'Isha', and Fajr prayers. Then he departed from Mina to 'Arafah, where he led him in two prayers: the Dhuhr and the 'Asr. Then he stood with him until the sun set. Then he departed until he arrived at al-Muzdalifah, where he descended, spent the night, and prayed. Then he prayed as quickly as any of the Muslims would pray, then he stood with him [in waiting] as slowly as any of the Muslims would pray. Then he departed from there to Mina, where he performed the stoning and the sacrifice. Then Allah Almighty revealed to Muhammad: "Follow the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth, and he was not of the polytheists."

His saying: "...inclining toward truth, and he was not of the polytheists."

Its explanation has preceded.

His saying: "Indeed, the first House [of worship] established for mankind..."

[The First Aspect]

3827 - al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Sabah narrated to us, Sa'id ibn Sulayman narrated to us, Sharik narrated to us, from Mujalid, from 'Amir al-Sha'bi, from 'Ali regarding His saying: "Indeed, the first House [of worship] established for mankind was that at Bakkah, blessed..." He said: There were houses before it, but it was the first house established for the worship of Allah.

[The Second Aspect]

3828 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim narrated to us, Ahmad ibn al-Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi: "Indeed, the first House [of worship] established for mankind." As for it being the first house, it was from the day when the earth was [like] butter upon the sea. When Allah created the earth, He created the House along with it, so it is the first house placed on the earth.
