Translation · EN

His saying, the Exalted: "and gardens beneath which rivers flow."

4197 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim narrated to us, from Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan regarding His saying: "Those—their reward is forgiveness from their Lord and gardens beneath which rivers flow," he said: He made their reward gardens beneath which rivers flow.

His saying, the Exalted: "And excellent is the reward of the [righteous] workers."

4198 - And by the same chain, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "And excellent is the reward of the [righteous] workers," he said: The reward of those who work in obedience to Allah is Paradise.

4199 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr Junayj narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "And excellent is the reward of the [righteous] workers," meaning the recompense of those who are obedient.

His saying, the Exalted: "Already have there been before you"

4200 - Abu Bakr ibn Musa narrated to us, Harun ibn Hatim narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hammad narrated to us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi, from Abu Malik: His saying "Already have there been before you" [sunan], meaning: have passed.

His saying, the Exalted: "[Many] ways [sunan]"

4201 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "Already have there been before you ways [sunan]," [meaning:] of the disbelievers and the believers, in [matters of] good and evil.

4202 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "Already have there been before you ways [sunan]," meaning: There have already passed from Me incidents of vengeance against the people who denied My messengers, and [those who practiced] shirk: 'Ad, Thamud, the people of Lot, and the people of Madyan. They were scattered [by] punishments that had already passed upon them.

His saying, the Exalted: "So travel through the earth."

4203 - Al-Hasan ibn Ahmad narrated to us, Musa ibn Muhkam narrated to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi narrated to us, 'Abbad ibn Mansur narrated to us, he said: I asked al-Hasan about His saying: "So travel through the earth," he said: Have you not traveled through the earth?
