4281 - Ja'far ibn Nadr al-Wasiti narrated to us, Abu Qatan narrated to us, from Abu al-Ashhab, from al-Hasan regarding this verse: "And how many a prophet fought and with him fought many religious scholars" he said: Patient scholars.
The Third View:
4282 - My father narrated to me, Abu 'Umar al-Hawdi narrated to us, Mubarak narrated to us, from al-Hasan: "And how many a prophet fought and with him fought many religious scholars" he said: Righteous, pious, patient ones.
His saying, the Exalted: "So they did not become weak for what befell them in the cause of Allah."
4283 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, al-Maqdisi narrated to us, Ayyub ibn Waqid narrated to us, from Harun ibn 'Antarah, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And how many a prophet fought and with him fought many religious scholars" he said: It refers to them on the day their prophet was killed; they did not become weak, nor did they falter, nor were they brought low by the killing of their prophet. Similar was narrated from Qatadah.
4284 - Abu Bakr ibn Abi Musa narrated to us, Harun ibn Hatim narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hammad narrated to us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi, from Abu Malik regarding His saying: "So they did not become weak for what befell them in the cause of Allah" meaning: They did not become incapable against their enemy.
4285 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "So they did not become weak" he said: The religious scholars did not become weak for what befell them in the cause of Allah from the killing of the prophet.
4286 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "So they did not become weak for what befell them in the cause of Allah" he says: They did not become weak because of the loss of their prophet.
4287 - Al-Hasan ibn Ahmad narrated to us, Musa ibn Muhkam narrated to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi narrated to us, 'Abbad ibn Mansur narrated to us, he said: I asked al-Hasan about His saying: "So they did not become weak for what befell them in the cause of Allah" he said: So that the companions of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, would not become weak.
His saying, the Exalted: "And [they] did not weaken"
4288 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman narrated to us, Ahmad ibn al-Mufaddal narrated to us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "And [they] did not weaken" he says: They did not weaken in the cause of Allah due to the killing of the prophet.
4289 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid narrated to us, Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And [they] did not weaken" he says: And they were not shaken by the killing of their prophet.
