4312 - 'Ali ibn al-Mubarak informed me in what he wrote to me, Zayd ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, Ibn Thawr narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj regarding "O you who have believed, if you obey those who have disbelieved, they will turn you back on your heels," he said: Do not seek advice from the Jews and the Christians regarding your religion, and do not believe them in anything concerning your religion.
His saying, the Exalted: "And you will become losers"
4313 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Zunayj narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "And you will become losers" meaning: in your religion, so your worldly life and your Hereafter will be lost.
His saying, the Exalted: "But Allah is your protector"
4314 - And through the same chain, Ibn Ishaq said: "But Allah is your protector" if what you say with your tongues is sincere in your hearts.
His saying, the Exalted: "And He is the best of helpers"
4315 - And through the same chain, Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "And He is the best of helpers" meaning: so seek refuge in Him, do not seek victory from anyone else, and do not turn back on your heels as apostates from His religion.
His saying, the Exalted: "We will cast terror into the hearts of those who have disbelieved"
4316 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd al-'Awfi informed us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my uncle al-Husayn narrated to us, from his father, from his grandfather, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding his saying: "We will cast terror into the hearts of those who have disbelieved," he said: Allah cast terror into the heart of Abu Sufyan, so he returned to Makkah. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, then said: Abu Sufyan has indeed gained a portion [of victory] against you, and he has turned back, and Allah has cast terror into his heart.
4317 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "We will cast terror into the hearts of those who have disbelieved for what they have associated with Allah." He said: For I shall cast into the hearts of those who have disbelieved—those whom I used to support you against—[terror] for their having associated [others] with Me. And something similar was narrated from Ibn Abza, Mujahid, al-Hasan, al-Suddi, al-Zuhri, Qatadah, al-Rabi' ibn Anas, and Abu Salih.
His saying, the Exalted: "By His permission"
4318 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Minjab ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, regarding His saying: "When you were killing them by His permission," he said: The sword.
٤٣١٢ - أَخْبَرَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، ثنا ابْنُ ثَوْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ جَرِيحٍ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنْ تُطِيعُوا الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يَرُدُّوكُمْ على أعقابكم قَالَ: فَلَا تَنْتَصِحُوا الْيَهُودَ وَالنَّصَارَى عَلَى دِينِكُمْ، وَلا تُصَدِّقُوهُمْ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ دِينِكُمْ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: فَتَنْقَلِبُوا خَاسِرِينَ
٤٣١٣ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ، ثنا زُنَيْجٌ، ثنا سَلَمَةُ قَالَ: قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ ابن إِسْحَاقَ: فَتَنْقَلِبُوا خَاسِرِينَ أَيْ: عَنْ دِينِكُمْ فَتَذْهَبُ دُنْيَاكُمْ وَآخِرَتُكُمْ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: بَلِ اللَّهُ مَوْلاكُمْ
٤٣١٤ - وَبِهِ قَالَ ابْنُ إِسْحَاقَ: بَلِ اللَّهُ مَوْلاكُمْ إِنْ كَانَ مَا تَقُولُونَ بِأَلْسِنَتِكُمْ صِدْقاً فِي قُلُوبِكُمْ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَهُوَ خَيْرُ النَّاصِرِينَ
٤٣١٥ - وَبِهِ قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ: وَهُوَ خَيْرُ النَّاصِرِينَ أَيْ فَاعْتَصِمُوا بِهِ، وَلا تَسْتُنْصِرُوا بِغَيْرِهِ، وَلا تَرْجِعُوا عَلَى أَعْقَابِكُمْ مُرْتَدِّينَ عَنْ دِينِهِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: سَنُلْقِي فِي قُلُوبِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا الرُّعْبَ
٤٣١٦ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ الْعَوْفِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ثنا عَمِّي الْحُسَيْنُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، يَعْنِي قَوْلَهُ: سَنُلْقِي فِي قُلُوبِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا الرُّعْبَ قَالَ: قَذَفَ اللَّهُ فِي قَلْبِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ فَرَجَعَ إِلَى مَكَّةَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:
إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ قَدْ أَصَابَ مِنْكُمْ طَرَفاً وَقَدْ رَجَعَ وَقَذَفَ اللَّهُ فِي قَلْبِهِ الرُّعْبَ.
٤٣١٧ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، ثنا سَلَمَةُ قَالَ: قَالَ محمد ابن إِسْحَاقَ: سَنُلْقِي فِي قُلُوبِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا الرُّعْبَ بِمَا أَشْرَكُوا بِاللَّهِ قَالَ: فَإِنِّي سَأُلْقِي فِي قُلُوبِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا الرُّعْبَ الَّذِي كُنْتُ أَنْصُرُكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ بِمَا أَشْرَكُوا بِي.
وَرُوِيَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبْزَى وَمُجَاهِدٍ وَالْحَسَنِ وَالسُّدِّيِّ وَالزُّهْرِيِّ، وَقَتَادَةَ، وَالرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، وَأَبِي صَالِحٍ نحو ذلك.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: بِإِذْنِهِ
٤٣١٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا مِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، أَنْبَأَ بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: إِذْ تَحُسُّونَهُمْ بِإِذْنِهِ قال: السيف.
