4332 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Salamah narrated, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "Among you are those who desire this world," meaning those who desired the plunder out of greed for the world, and abandoned what they were commanded to do of obedience, upon which rests the reward of the Hereafter.
His saying, the Exalted: "And among you are those who desire the Hereafter."
4333 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd al-'Awfi informed us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my uncle al-Husayn narrated to me, from his father, from his grandfather, from Ibn 'Abbas, that when the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, defeated the people, he and his companions who believed, those who had placed the spoils behind them saw it. Some of them said to others: "Go to the Messenger of Allah and secure the spoils before others beat you to them." Another group said: "Rather, we will obey the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and hold our position." That is His saying regarding them: "And among you are those who desire the Hereafter," for those who said: "We will obey the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and hold our position."
4334 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Salamah narrated, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq: "And among you are those who desire the Hereafter," meaning those who struggled for the sake of Allah, and did not disobey by doing what they were forbidden from for the sake of worldly gain, out of desire for the goods of this world, hoping for what Allah has of good reward in the Hereafter.
His saying, the Exalted: "Then He turned you away from them."
4335 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi narrated to us, Ahmad ibn al-Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, he said: "Then," he mentioned when Khalid turned against them, he said: "Then He turned you away from them."
His saying, the Exalted: "To test you."
4336 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas, the freed slave of Banu Hashim, narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Salamah narrated, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "Then He turned you away from them to test you," meaning He turned you away from them to examine you, and that was due to some of your sins.
His saying, the Exalted: "And He has indeed forgiven you."
4337 - My father narrated to us, al-Musayyab ibn Wadih narrated to us, he said: I asked al-Hajjaj ibn Muhammad about His saying: "And He has indeed forgiven you." I said: "How did He forgive them when the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was wounded in his face, his uncle and standard-bearer was killed, and his companions were exposed?" He said: al-Hasan said: "He forgave them when He did not completely exterminate them."
٤٣٣٢ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، ثنا سَلَمَةُ قَالَ: قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ ابْنُ إِسْحَاقَ: مِنْكُمْ مَنْ يُرِيدُ الدُّنْيَا أَيِ الَّذِينَ أَرَادُوا النَّهْبَ رَغْبَةً فِي الدُّنْيَا وَتَرْكَ مَا أُمِرُوا بِهِ مِنَ الطَّاعَةِ الَّتِي عَلَيْهَا ثَوَابُ الآخِرَةِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَمِنْكُمْ مَنْ يُرِيدُ الآخِرَةَ
٤٣٣٣ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ الْعَوْفِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا أَبِي، ثنا عَمِّي الْحُسَيْنُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا هَزَمَ الْقَوْمَ هُوَ وَأَصْحَابُهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا رَآهُ الَّذِينَ كَانُوا جَعَلُوا مِنْ وَرَائِهِمْ فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ: انْطَلِقُوا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ فَأَدْرِكُوا الْغَنِيمَةَ قَبْلَ أَنْ تُسْبَقُوا إِلَيْهَا، فَقَالَتْ طَائِفَةٌ أُخْرَى: بَلْ نُطِيعُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَنَثْبُتْ مَكَانَنَا، فَذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُ لَهُمْ: وَمِنْكُمْ مَنْ يُرِيدُ الآخِرَةَ لِلَّذِينَ قَالُوا: نُطِيعُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَثْبُتُ مَكَانَنَا.
٤٣٣٤ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، ثنا سَلَمَةُ قَالَ: مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ: وَمِنْكُمْ مَنْ يُرِيدُ الآخِرَةَ أَيِ الَّذِينَ جَاهِدُوا فِي اللَّهِ، وَلَمْ يُخَالِفُوا إِلَى مَا نُهُوا عَنْهُ لِغَرَضٍ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا، رَغْبَةً مِنْهُمْ فِي الْعَرْضِ، رَجَاءَ مَا عِنْدِ اللَّهِ مِنْ حُسْنِ ثَوَابِهِ فِي الآخِرَةِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: ثُمَّ صَرَفَكُمْ عَنْهُمْ
٤٣٣٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ الأَوْدِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ قَالَ: ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ حِينَ مَالَ عَلَيْهِمْ خَالِدٌ قَالَ: ثُمَّ صَرَفَكُمْ عَنْهُمْ
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: لِيَبْتَلِيَكُمْ
٤٣٣٦ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، ثنا سَلَمَةُ قَالَ: قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ: ثُمَّ صَرَفَكُمْ عَنْهُمْ لِيَبْتَلِيَكُمْ أَيْ صَرَفَكُمْ عَنْهُمْ لِيَخْتَبِرَكُمْ، وَذَلِكَ بِبَعْضِ ذُنُوبِكُمْ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلَقَدْ عَفَا عَنْكُمْ
٤٣٣٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا الْمُسَيَّبُ بْنُ وَاضِحٍ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ الْحَجَّاجَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ قَوْلِهِ: وَلَقَدْ عَفَا عَنْكُمْ قُلْتُ كَيْفَ عَفَا عَنْهُمْ وَقَدْ جُرِحَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي وَجْهِهِ، وَقُتِلَ عَمُّهُ صَاحِبُ لِوَائِهِ، وَانْكَشَفَ أَصْحَابُهُ؟ قَالَ: قَالَ الْحَسَنُ: عَفَا عَنْهُمْ حِينَ لَمْ يَسْتَأْصِلْهُمْ.
