Volume 3 · Page 88His saying, the Exalted: "And Allah is full of bounty to the believers"

Translation · EN

4338 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr Zunayj narrated to us, Salamah narrated, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "And He has indeed forgiven you," he said: Allah has indeed forgiven the gravity of that, in that He did not destroy you for the disobedience you committed against your Prophet, but rather I returned to you with My grace.

His saying, the Exalted: "And Allah is full of grace to the believers."

4339 - By way of him, Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "And Allah is full of grace to the believers," meaning: I have fulfilled for you what I promised you of victory over your enemy.

His saying, the Exalted: "When you were climbing up, and paying no heed to anyone."

[The first interpretation]

4340 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, concerning His saying: "When you were climbing up," he said: Their climbing was because they were fleeing.

And the second interpretation:

4341 - Al-Hasan ibn Ahmad narrated to us, Musa ibn Muhkam narrated to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi narrated to us, 'Abbad ibn Mansur narrated to us, he said: I asked al-Hasan about His saying: "When you were climbing up," he said: They fled, defeated, into a rugged mountain pass, paying no heed to anyone.

And the third interpretation:

4342 - 'Ubayd Allah ibn Isma'il al-Baghdadi narrated to us, Khalaf narrated to us, al-Khaffaf narrated to us, from Sa'id, from al-Hasan and Qatadah: "When you were climbing up," meaning: on the mountain.

His saying, the Exalted: "And the Messenger was calling to you from your rear."

4343 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd al-'Awfi informed us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my uncle narrated to me, from his father, from his grandfather, from Ibn 'Abbas concerning His saying: "And the Messenger was calling to you from your rear," so they returned and said: "By Allah, we will surely come to them and then kill them, they have surely emerged from us," and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Wait, for what has afflicted you only afflicted you because you disobeyed me."

4344 - Al-Hasan ibn Ahmad narrated to us, Musa ibn Muhkam narrated to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi narrated to us, 'Abbad ibn Mansur narrated to us, from al-Hasan regarding His saying: "And the Messenger was calling to you from your rear," meaning: O servants of Allah! And no one was paying heed to him. And it was narrated from Qatadah something similar to that.
