His saying, the Exalted: "That you might not grieve"

[The first interpretation]

4351 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd al-'Awfi informed us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my uncle al-Husayn narrated to me, from his father, from his grandfather, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "That you might not grieve," he says: That you might not grieve over what has passed you by... that you might not sorrow over what has passed you by of the killing. Similar to this was reported from al-Zuhri.

4352 - Al-Hasan ibn Ahmad narrated to us, Musa ibn Muhkam narrated to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi narrated to us, 'Abbad ibn Mansur narrated to us, from al-Hasan, regarding His saying: "That you might not grieve over what has passed you by" of the enemy.

And the second interpretation:

4353 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "That you might not grieve over what has passed you by" of the spoils. Similar to this was reported from Qatadah.

His saying, the Exalted: "Nor what has afflicted you. And Allah is Aware of what you do."
