His saying, the Exalted: "Then He sent down upon you after distress a sense of security, slumber."
4358 - Al-Fadl ibn Shadhan narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd al-Hamid narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Ja'far al-Mukharrimi narrated to us, from Abu 'Awn, from al-Miswar ibn Makhramah, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf regarding: "Then He sent down upon you after distress a sense of security, slumber," he said: He cast sleep upon them.
4359 - Al-Hasan ibn Dawud ibn Mihran al-Mu'addib and al-Mundhir ibn Shadhan narrated to us, they said: Al-Hasan ibn Bishr al-Bajali narrated to us, al-Hakam ibn 'Abd al-Malik narrated to us, from Qatadah, from Anas, from Abu Talhah, who said: I was one of those upon whom Allah sent down: "Then He sent down upon you after distress a sense of security, slumber," and I would doze off until my sword would fall from my hand, then I would pick it up. In the narration of al-Mundhir: "And my sword would fall from me, then I would pick it up with my hand."
4360 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Abu Nu'aym and Waki' narrated to us, from Sufyan, from 'Asim, from Abu Razin, from 'Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud who said: Slumber during battle is from Allah, and in prayer, it is from Shaytan.
4361 - Al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma'mar informed us, from Qatadah regarding "a sense of security, slumber," he said: Allah cast slumber upon them, and that was a security for them.
4362 - My father narrated to us, Duhaym narrated to us, al-Walid narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, from Abu al-Aswad, from 'Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, from his father, al-Zubayr ibn al-'Awwam, who said: When we met on the day of Badr, Allah empowered slumber over us. I would be dazed, and it would flog me, and I would struggle, and it would flog me; I could not endure anything but that. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was likewise among his companions. The polytheists drew near us until they said: "By Allah, there is no one left under the shields." Al-Zubayr said: The first to recover from that state of silence and slumber was the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him).
His saying, the Exalted: "overcoming a faction of you"
4363 - Al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid ibn Mazid al-Bayruti informed us, Muhammad ibn Shu'ayb ibn Shabur narrated to us, Sa'id ibn Bashir informed me, from Qatadah regarding the saying of Allah the Exalted: "overcoming a faction of you," he said: They were two groups on that day, and as for one group, slumber overcame them.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: ثُمَّ أَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ الْغَمِّ أَمَنَةً نُعَاساً
٤٣٥٨ - حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ شَاذَانَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْمُخَرِّمِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي عَوْنٍ، عَنِ الْمِسْوَرِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ ثُمَّ أَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ الْغَمِّ أَمَنَةً نُعَاساً قَالَ: أَلْقَى عَلَيْهِمُ النَّوْمَ.
٤٣٥٩ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ الْمُؤَدِّبُ وَالْمُنْذِرُ بْنُ شَاذَانَ قَالا، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ الْبَجَلِيُّ، ثنا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ قَالَ: كُنْتُ أَحَدُ مَنْ أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ فِيهِ: ثُمَّ أَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ من بعد الغم أمنة نُعَاساً وَكُنْتُ أَنْعَسُ حَتَّى يَسْقُطَ سَيْفِي مِنْ يَدِي، ثُمَّ أَتَنَاوَلُهُ. وَفِي حَدِيثِ الْمُنْذِرِ: وَكَانَ سَيْفِي يَسْقُطُ مِنِّي، ثُمَّ أَتَنَاوَلُهُ بِيَدِي «١» .
٤٣٦٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ وَوَكِيعٌ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي رَزِينٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: النُّعَاسُ فِي الْقِتَالِ مِنَ اللَّهِ، وَفِي الصَّلاةِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ.
٤٣٦١ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَبِي الرَّبِيعِ، أَنْبَأَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ «٢» ، أَنْبَأَ مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ أَمَنَةً نُعَاساً قَالَ: أَلْقَى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمُ النُّعَاسَ فَكَانَ ذَلِكَ أَمَنَةً لَهُمْ.
٤٣٦٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا دُحَيْمٌ، ثنا الْوَلِيدُ، ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ الْعَوَّامِ قَالَ: لَمَّا الْتَقَيْنَا يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ سَلَّطَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا النُّعَاسَ، فَإِنْ كُنْتُ لا تشرد فَيَجْلِدُنِي، وَأَتَشَدَّدُ فَيَجْلِدُنِي، مَا أُطِيقُ إِلا ذَلِكَ، وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي أَصْحَابِهِ كَذَلِكَ، وَدَنَا مِنَّا الْمُشْرِكُونَ حَتَّى قَالُوا: وَاللَّهِ مَا تَحْتَ الْجُحُفِ أَحَدٌ. قَالَ الزُّبَيْرُ: وَكَانَ أَوَّلُ مَنِ اسْتَقَلَّ مِنْ تِلْكِ السَّكْتَةِ وَالنَّعْسَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: يَغْشَى طَائِفَةً مِنْكُمْ
٤٣٦٣ - أَخْبَرَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ مَزْيَدٍ الْبَيْرُوتِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ شَابُورَ، أَخْبَرَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى: يَغْشَى طَائِفَةً مِنْكُمْ قَالَ: وَكَانُوا يَوْمَئِذٍ فِرْقَتَيْنِ، فَأَمَّا فِرْقَةٌ فَغَشِيَهَا النعاس.
