Mujahid regarding His saying: 'hastening [to be] among them,' he said: They are the hypocrites.

His saying, the Almighty: 'among them.'

[6519] And through the same chain from Mujahid regarding His saying: 'hastening [to be] among them,' he said: The hypocrites are hastening in disobedience and their whispering, or he said: their secret talks and their nursing of their children through them.

[6520] Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Idris narrated to us, he said: I heard my father mention from 'Atiyyah regarding His saying: 'So you see those in whose hearts is disease hastening [to be] among them,' he said: In their alliance, meaning 'Abd Allah ibn Ubayy in the alliance of the Jews.

[6521] My father narrated to us, Abu al-Asbagh al-Harrani narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, my father Ishaq ibn Yasar narrated to me, from 'Ubadah ibn al-Walid, from 'Ubadah ibn al-Samit, he said: Allah revealed: 'They say: We fear that a disaster may befall us,' meaning 'Abd Allah ibn Ubayy, for his saying: 'I fear disasters.'

[6522] Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: 'They say: We fear that a disaster may befall us,' he says: We fear that the victory will be for the Jews at that time.

His saying, the Almighty: 'a disaster.'

[6523] Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi informed us in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding His saying: 'They say: We fear that a disaster may befall us,' meaning the dominance of the polytheists over them.

His saying, the Almighty: 'But perhaps Allah will bring about victory.'

[6524] And through the same chain from al-Suddi regarding His saying: 'But perhaps Allah will bring about victory,' [meaning] the conquest of Makkah.

[6525] Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid narrated to us, Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: 'But perhaps Allah will bring about victory,' he said: It is the decree.
