from among you, from his religion, then Allah will bring forth a people He will love and who will love Him." Ibn Ka'b said: "O Prince, Allah only intended by [His saying] 'O you who have believed' the rulers from Quraysh."

His saying, the Almighty: 'Whoever among you should revert from his religion.'

[6532] By way of this, from Muhammad ibn Ka'b, regarding his saying: 'O you who have believed, whoever among you should revert from his religion,' he said: Whoever reverts from the truth.

[6533] My father narrated to us, Hawdhah ibn Khalifah narrated to us, 'Awf ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, [regarding] 'Whoever among you should revert from his religion,' he said: They are those who fought the people of apostasy from the Arabs after the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, alongside Abu Bakr.

His saying, the Almighty: 'Then Allah will bring forth a people He will love and who will love Him.'

[The first aspect]

[6534] My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-Musaffa narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Hafs narrated to us, from Abu Ziyad al-Khalfani, from Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir, from Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was asked about His saying: 'Then Allah will bring forth a people He will love and who will love Him,' he said: "These are a people from the people of Yemen, then from Kindah, then from al-Sakun, then from Tujib."

[6535] 'Umar ibn Shabbah narrated to us, 'Abd al-Samad ibn 'Abd al-Warith narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Simak, who said: I heard 'Iyad narrating from al-Ash'ari, who said: When [the verse] 'Then Allah will bring forth a people He will love and who will love Him' was revealed, the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "They are the people of this man."

[6536] Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn al-Aglah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn 'Amr, from Salim, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: 'Then Allah will bring forth a people He will love and who will love Him,' [he said]: It is a threat from Allah that whoever reverts among them, we shall replace them with [others] better than them.

The second aspect:

[6537] Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj and 'Amr al-Awdi narrated to us, they said: Waki' narrated to us, from al-Fadl ibn Dalham, from al-Husayn, regarding 'Then Allah will bring forth a people He will love and who will love Him,' he said: It is, by Allah, Abu Bakr and his companions.
