[6538] Abu Fudayl Muhammad ibn Jabir narrated to us, al-Muharibi narrated to us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak, regarding His saying: 'Then Allah will bring forth a people He will love and who will love Him,' he said: It is Abu Bakr and his companions. When the Arabs apostatized, Abu Bakr and his companions came with them [the faith] until he brought them back to Islam.

The third aspect:

[6539] It was mentioned from Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah that he said: I heard Abu Bakr ibn 'Ayyash saying regarding His saying: 'Then Allah will bring forth a people He will love and who will love Him,' he said: The people of al-Qadisiyyah.

And the fourth aspect:

[6540] Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Ibn Idris narrated to us, from Layth, from Mujahid, [regarding] 'Then Allah will bring forth a people He will love and who will love Him,' he said: A people from Saba'.

His saying, the Almighty: 'Humble.'

[6541] My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: 'Humble toward the believers,' he means: by 'the humble' is [meant] mercy.

His saying, the Almighty: 'Toward the believers.'

[6542] 'Ali ibn al-Hasan al-Misinjani narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi al-'Amr narrated to us, I asked him—meaning Abu Sakhr—about the saying of Allah: 'Humble toward the believers.' He said: 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz said... regarding His saying: 'Humble toward the believers,' and he said: You are the believers.

His saying, the Almighty: 'Mighty toward the disbelievers.'

[6543] It was mentioned from Hajjaj, from Ibn Jurayj, from Mujahid: 'Humble toward the believers, mighty toward the disbelievers,' [meaning] severe against them.

His saying, the Almighty: 'They strive in the way of Allah and do not fear the blame of a critic.'

[6544] 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, 'Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, Ishaq ibn Mansur narrated to us, from Abu Maryam, from Layth, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: 'They strive in the way of Allah and do not fear the blame of a critic,' he said: They are swift in war.
