[5943] Abu Badr 'Abbad ibn al-Walid al-Ghubari informed us in what he wrote to me, he said: I heard Abu Sa'id al-Haddad, Ahmad ibn Dawud, saying: "While they devise at night such speech as He does not approve. And Allah ever is encompassing of what they do," he said: Allah has encompassed everything in knowledge, and He did not say 'with everything.'
His saying, the Almighty: "Here you are—those who argue on their behalf in [this] worldly life, but who will argue with Allah for them on the Day of Resurrection?"
[5944] Muhammad ibn Sa'd informed us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my paternal uncle narrated to me, my father narrated to me, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Here you are—those who argue on their behalf in [this] worldly life, but who will argue with Allah for them on the Day of Resurrection?" meaning: Those who came to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, concealing [the truth], arguing on behalf of the traitor.
His saying, the Almighty: "And whoever does a wrong or wrongs himself"
[5945] And by the same chain from Ibn 'Abbas: "And whoever does a wrong or wrongs himself, then seeks forgiveness of Allah, will find Allah Forgiving and Merciful," meaning: Those who came to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, concealing [the truth] with falsehood.
His saying, the Almighty: "Then seeks forgiveness of Allah, will find Allah Forgiving and Merciful."
[5946] Yunus ibn Habib narrated to us, Abu Dawud narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, 'Uthman ibn al-Mughirah informed me, he said: I heard 'Ali ibn Rabi'ah al-Asadi from Asma' or the son of Asma' al-Fazari, he said: I heard 'Ali saying: When I heard a Hadith from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, Allah benefited me with it as He willed to benefit me. 'Ali said: And Abu Bakr narrated to me—and Abu Bakr spoke the truth—that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "There is no servant who commits a sin, then performs ablution, prays two rak'ahs, then seeks Allah's forgiveness, but he is forgiven." Then he recited this verse: "And whoever does a wrong or wrongs himself, then seeks forgiveness of Allah, will find Allah Forgiving and Merciful."
[5947] Yunus ibn Habib narrated to us, Abu Dawud narrated to us, Abu 'Awanah narrated to us, from 'Uthman ibn al-Mughirah, from 'Ali ibn Rabi'ah, from Asma' ibn al-Hakam al-Fazari, he said: I heard 'Ali saying: When I heard from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace... and he mentioned the like of it.
