Mufaddal, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding His saying: "And when you call to prayer, they take it in ridicule and amusement," he said: There was a man among the Christians in Medina who, whenever he heard the caller announcing, "I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah," he would say: "May the liar be burned." One night, while he was asleep and his family was asleep, his maidservant entered with a fire, and a spark fell, setting the house ablaze, and he and his family were burned to death.
[6558] Ishaq ibn Isma'il ibn 'Abd al-A'la al-Ayli informed us in what he wrote to me, he said: I heard Salamah ibn Rawh ibn Khalid, the nephew of 'Uqayl ibn Khalid, say: 'Uqayl ibn Khalid said: Muhammad ibn Muslim ibn Shihab al-Zuhri said: Allah has mentioned the Adhan (call to prayer) in His Book, where He said: "And when you call to prayer, they take it in ridicule and amusement."
His saying, the Almighty: "Say, O People of the Scripture, do you resent us..."
[6559] Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas, the freed slave of the Banu Hashim, narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr Junayj narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad narrated to me, they said: Abu Yasir ibn Akhtab, Nafi' ibn Abi Nafi', 'Azir, Khalid, Zayd, Izad ibn Abi Izad, and Ashya' came to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). They said: "In which of the messengers do you believe?" The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "We believe in Allah and what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Descendants, and what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them." When he mentioned Jesus, son of Mary, they denied his prophethood and said: "We do not believe in Jesus, nor in anyone who believes in him." So Allah revealed concerning them: "Say, O People of the Scripture, do you resent us except [for the fact] that we have believed in Allah and what was revealed to us and what was revealed before and because most of you are defiantly disobedient?"
His saying, the Almighty: "Say, 'Shall I inform you of [what is] worse than that as penalty from Allah? [It is that of] whom Allah has cursed and with whom He became angry.'"

His saying, the Almighty: "...and He made of them monkeys and swine."
