Translation · EN

His saying, the Almighty: "Chained are their hands."

[6578] My father narrated to us, 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Shabib narrated to us, Abu Mu'adh narrated to us, from 'Ubayd ibn Sulayman, from al-Dahhak regarding His saying: "Chained are their hands," he says: They withheld [their hands] from spending and good.

His saying, the Almighty: "And they have been cursed for what they said."

[6579] Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim informed me in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn al-Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, [regarding] His saying: "And they have been cursed for what they said," he said: They said, "Indeed, Allah placed His hand upon His chest and will never extend it until He restores our kingdom to us."

His saying, the Almighty: "Rather, both His hands are extended."

[6580] It was mentioned from al-Fadl ibn Musa, al-Husayn ibn Fa'id narrated to us, from Yazid al-Nahwi, from 'Ikrimah regarding His saying: "Rather, both His hands are extended," he said: Meaning the two hands.

[6581] Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid al-Narsi narrated to us, Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah [regarding] His saying: "Rather, both His hands are extended," [meaning] He spends with them as He wills.

His saying, the Almighty: "He spends as He wills."

[6582] Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim informed me in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn al-Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, [regarding] "He spends as He wills," he said: He provides as He wills.

His saying, the Almighty: "And that which has been revealed to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them..."

[6583] Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas narrated to us, Yazid narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "And that which has been revealed to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in transgression and disbelief," [meaning] their envy of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and [their envy of] the Arabs compelled them to disbelieve in him, even though they find him written [described] with them [in their Scripture].

His saying, the Almighty: "And We have cast among them animosity and hatred."

[6584] Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, from al-'Awwam ibn Hawshab, from Ibrahim al-Taymi, regarding His saying: "Animosity and hatred," he said: The disputes and the arguing in religion.

His saying, the Almighty: "Every time they kindled a fire."

[6585] My father narrated to us, Abu Hudhayfah narrated to us, Shibl ibn 'Abbad narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, "Every time they kindled a fire [for war], Allah extinguished it," he says: Every time they plotted a plot, Allah extinguished the fire and the plot.
