the house of a man. Then he said to some of his companions: "Go and provide excuses for me before the Prophet (peace be upon him), for the shield has been found in the house of so-and-so." So they went to provide excuses for him before the Prophet (peace be upon him), and Allah the Almighty revealed: "And whoever earns a fault or a sin, then blames it on an innocent [person], has indeed taken upon himself a slander and a manifest sin." He said: Slander is his accusing a man.
His saying, the Almighty: "And a manifest sin."
[5954] Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Musaddad narrated to us, Umayyah—meaning the son of Khalid—narrated to us, Fudayl ibn Marzuq narrated to me, from 'Atiyyah al-'Awfi, regarding "and a manifest sin," he said: His sin is his theft.
His saying, the Almighty: "And if not for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy..." Its interpretation has already preceded in verse 112.
His saying, the Almighty: "A party of them intended to mislead you."
[5955] Hashim ibn al-Qasim al-Harrani informed us in what he wrote to me, Muhammad ibn Salamah narrated to us from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from 'Asim ibn 'Umar ibn Qatadah al-Ansari, from his father, from his grandfather, Qatadah ibn al-Nu'man, and he mentioned the story of the Banu Ubayriq, for Allah the Almighty revealed: "A party of them intended to mislead you, but they do not mislead except themselves, and they will not harm you at all," meaning: Usayr ibn 'Urwah and his companions.
[5956] Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, then he mentioned the Ansari and their coming to him to defend their companion, and he argued on his behalf, so he said: "A party of them intended to mislead you, but they do not mislead except themselves, and they will not harm you at all."
His saying, the Almighty: "And Allah has revealed to you the Book and the Wisdom and has taught you that which you did not know."
[5957] Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid narrated to us, Yazid narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah who said: Allah taught him the explanation of the world and the Hereafter, explained its lawful and unlawful, so that he may use that as an argument against His creation.
[5958] Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Ibn Numayr narrated to us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak, who said: He taught him good and evil.
بَيْتِ رَجُلٍ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لأَصْحَابٍ لَهُ: انْطَلِقُوا فَاعْذِرُونِي عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَإِنَّ الدِّرْعَ قَدْ وُجِدَ فِي بَيْتِ فُلانٍ فَانْطَلَقُوا يَعْذِرُونَهُ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى: وَمَنْ يَكْسِبْ خَطِيئَةً أَوْ إِثْمًا ثُمَّ يَرْمِ بِهِ بَرِيئًا فَقَدِ احْتَمَلَ بُهْتَانًا وَإِثْمًا مُبِينًا قَالَ: بُهْتَانٌ: قَذْفُهُ الرَّجُلَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَإِثْمًا مُبِينًا.
٥٩٥٤ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ (الْحُسَيْنِ) ، ثنا مُعَدَّدٌ، ثنا أُمَيَّةُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ خَالِدٍ، حَدَّثَنِي فُضَيْلُ بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ، عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ الْعَوْفِيِّ وَإِثْمًا مُبِينًا
قَالَ: إِثْمُهُ: سَرِقَتُهُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ الله عليك ورحمته

٥٩٥٥ - أَخْبَرَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ الْحَرَّانِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَتَادَةَ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ وَذَكَرَ قِصَّةَ بَنِي أُبَيْرِقٍ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى لَهَمَّتْ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْهُمْ أَنْ يُضِلُّوكَ وَمَا يُضِلُّونَ إِلا أَنْفُسَهُمْ وَمَا يَضُرُّونَك
يَعْنِي: أَسِيرَ بْنَ عُرْوَةَ وَأَصْحَابَهَ.
٥٩٥٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عثمان حَكِيمٍ الأَوْدِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُفَضَّلٍ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ الأَنْصَارِيَّ وَأتْيَانَهُمْ إِيَّاهُ أَنْ يَنْصْحَ عَنْ صَاحِبِهِمْ وَجَادَلَ عَنْهُ فقال:
لَهَمَّتْ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْهُمْ أَنْ يُضِلُّوكَ وَمَا يُضِلُّونَ إِلا أَنْفُسَهُمْ وَمَا يَضُرُّونَكَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَعَلَّمَكَ مَا لَمْ تكن تعلم
٥٩٥٧ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا يَزِيدُ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ: عَلَّمَهُ اللَّهُ بَيَانَ الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ، بَيَّنَ حَلالَهُ وَحَرَامَهُ، لِيَحْتَجَّ بِذَلِكَ عَلَى خَلْقِهِ.
٥٩٥٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، ثنا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ جُوَيْبِرٍ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ قَالَ:
عَلَّمَهُ الْخَيْرَ وَالشَّرَّ.
