He said to his wife: "You have held back my guest for my sake; he is forbidden to me." His wife said: "He is forbidden to me." He said: "The guest is forbidden to me." When he finished that, he placed his hand and said: "Eat, in the name of Allah." Then he went to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and mentioned what had happened among them. Then Allah, the Almighty, revealed: "O you who have believed, do not prohibit the good things which Allah has made lawful to you."
His saying, the Almighty: "And do not transgress; indeed, Allah does not like transgressors."
[6693] Sa‘id ibn Abi Zaydun, the scribe of al-Firyabi, narrated to us, from al-Firyabi, from Sufyan, from Isma‘il, from Qays ibn Abi Hazim, from ‘Abd Allah ibn Mas‘ud, who said: We used to go on expeditions with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), and there were no women with us. We said: Should we not castrate ourselves? The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) forbade that and granted us a concession to marry a woman [with a dowry of] a garment for a [fixed] term. Then ‘Abd Allah recited: "And do not transgress; indeed, Allah does not like transgressors."
[6694] My father narrated to us, ‘Ali ibn ‘Uthman al-Ahmaqi narrated to us, he said: I heard Qatadah recite this verse: "O you who have believed, do not prohibit the good things which Allah has made lawful to you, and do not transgress; indeed, Allah does not like transgressors." He said: Whoever prohibits what Allah has made lawful has made His forbidden [things] lawful; there is no difference between the two.

His saying, the Almighty: "Indeed, Allah does not like transgressors."
