He says: It is a transgression on your part to prohibit what I have made lawful for you, and Allah does not like that.
His saying, the Almighty: "And eat of what Allah has provided for you, lawful and good."
[6699] And by this chain, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "And eat of what Allah has provided for you, lawful and good." The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) sent for ‘Uthman ibn Maz‘un and a group of his companions and said: "Indeed, my religion consists of marriage, eating food, and drinking beverages. So adhere to what Allah has obligated upon you from fasting and prayer."
His saying, the Almighty: "And fear Allah."
[6700] Muhammad ibn al-‘Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn ‘Amr Junayj narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said regarding "And fear Allah": Meaning, obey Allah.
His saying, the Almighty: "Allah will not impose blame upon you for what is unintentional in your oaths."
[The First Aspect]
[6701] Harun ibn [---] narrated to us, Ishaq al-Hamdani narrated to us, ‘Abdah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, from Hisham ibn ‘Urwah, from his father, from ‘A’ishah, regarding the saying of Allah: "Allah will not impose blame upon you for what is unintentional in your oaths." She said: It is a man’s saying, "No, by Allah" and "Yes, by Allah." (1)
[6702] My father narrated to us, Abu Salih, the scribe of al-Layth, narrated to us, Ibn Lahi‘ah narrated to me, from Abu al-Aswad, from ‘Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, who said: ‘A’ishah used to say that the unintentional (laghw) is only in jest and joking, and it is a man’s saying: "No, by Allah" and "Yes, by Allah"; for that, there is no expiation. The expiation is only for what his heart has intended, such as if he were to do it then not do it. [6703] It has been narrated from Ibn ‘Umar, Ibn ‘Abbas (in one of his two sayings), al-Sha‘bi, ‘Ikrimah (in one of his two sayings), ‘Ata’, al-Qasim ibn Muhammad, Mujahid (in one of his two sayings), ‘Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, Ibn Salih, al-Dahhak (in one of his two sayings), Abu Qilabah, and al-Zuhri, something similar to that.
[The Second Aspect]
It is one of the two sayings of ‘A’ishah.
[6704] It was read to Yunus ibn ‘Abd al-A‘la, Ibn Wahb narrated to us, the reliable one informed me, from Ibn Shihab, from ‘Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, from ‘A’ishah, that she used to interpret this verse, meaning His saying:
