[6846] My father narrated to us, Sulaym narrated to us, Shu‘bah narrated to us, from Abu Bishr, from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "and for the travelers": He said: The mounts [animals used for riding]. My father said: And others said: It refers to the provision of dates (al-tatmir).

His saying, the Exalted: "And hunting of land game is forbidden to you so long as you are in the state of ihram"

[6847] My father narrated to us, Ibn al-Asbahani narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Salam ibn Harb narrated to us, from Yazid ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Dalani, from Simak ibn Harb, from Subayh ibn ‘Abd Allah, he said: Meat from hunting was brought to ‘Uthman while ‘Ali was with him, but ‘Ali refused to eat it and recited: "And hunting of land game is forbidden to you so long as you are in the state of ihram."

[6848] My father narrated to us, Ibn Abi ‘Umar narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from ‘Abd al-Karim Abu Umayyah, from Tawus, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding this verse: "And hunting of land game is forbidden to you so long as you are in the state of ihram," he said: Hunting it and eating it is forbidden for the one in ihram.

[6849] ‘Amr al-Awdi narrated to us, Waki‘ narrated to us, from ‘Imran ibn Hudayr, from Abu Mijlaz regarding: "And hunting of land game is forbidden to you so long as you are in the state of ihram," he said: Whatever lives on both land and sea, one should not hunt it; but whatever lives [only] in the water, that is permitted for him.

His saying, the Exalted: "And fear Allah, to whom you will be gathered"

[6850] ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, al-Rabi‘ ibn Tha‘lab narrated to us, Abu Isma‘il al-Mu’adhdhin narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from al-Harith, from ‘Ali, he said: A cloud descended from the sky upon the Ka‘bah containing a head, and the head called out: "Build upon my shadow." He said: So the Ka‘bah was placed upon the square of the head.

[6851] Abu Sa‘id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Waki‘ narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, he said: The Ka‘bah was only named as such because it is elevated.

[6852] Ibn al-Muqri’ narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, he said: The Ka‘bah was only named as such because it is cubic (muka‘abah)—and the like of that was narrated from ‘Ikrimah.
