Translation · EN

[6916] My father narrated to us, Ibn Abi 'Umar al-'Adani narrated to us, he said: Sufyan said regarding His saying: 'You are responsible for yourselves,' he said: You are responsible for the people of your own religion.

[6917] Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi reported to me in what Ahmad ibn al-Mufaddal wrote to me, Asbat narrated to us from al-Suddi regarding His saying: 'You are responsible for yourselves,' he says: Your coreligionists; enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil.

[6918] Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Yahya al-Razi, meaning Ishaq ibn Sulayman, narrated to us from Abu Ja'far from al-Rabi' from Safwan ibn Muhriz, he said: A man from the people of desires (innovators) came to him and mentioned some of his matters to him. Safwan said to him: Shall I not point you to the special quality of Allah with which He has distinguished His allies? 'O you who have believed, you are responsible for yourselves. Those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided.'

His saying, the Exalted: 'Those who have gone astray will not harm you.'

[The First Aspect]

[6919] 'Ubayd Allah ibn Sa'id ibn Ibrahim al-Zuhri narrated to us, my paternal uncle narrated to us, my father narrated to us from al-Walid ibn Kathir from Muhammad ibn Muslim ibn Shurik al-Thaqafi that Isma'il, the mawla of Khiradash, narrated to them that Qays ibn Abi Hazim narrated to him that he heard Abu Bakr al-Siddiq while he was on the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: O people, you read this verse: 'O you who have believed, you are responsible for yourselves. Those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided.' And we heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: 'No evil (munkar) is present among a people, yet they do not change it, but that Allah is about to encompass them with punishment.'

[6920] My father narrated to us, Muslim ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, Malik ibn Mighwal narrated to us, 'Ali ibn Mudrik narrated to us from Abu 'Amir that there was something among them, so he was delayed from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), then he came to him. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to him: 'What kept you back?' He said: O Messenger of Allah, I read this verse: 'O you who have believed, you are responsible for yourselves. Those who have gone astray from the disbelievers will not harm you when you have been guided.'

[6921] My father narrated to us, 'Ubayd Allah ibn Hamzah informed me, he said: I heard my father say, Abu Sinan narrated to us regarding His saying: 'Those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided,' he said: From among the nations, when you have been guided.
