‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Juhani, from Ibn Shihab regarding His saying: "Or two others from outside of you." He said: They are from outside the people of inheritance.

The Third Aspect:

[6936] My father narrated to us, al-Ansari Muhammad ibn ‘Abd Allah narrated to us, Ash‘ath narrated to us, from al-Hasan regarding His saying: "Or two others from outside of you." He said: From outside your people, [yet] Muslims.

His saying, the Exalted: "If you are traveling in the land"

[6937] Abu Sa‘id ibn Yahya ibn Sa‘id al-Qattan narrated to us, ‘Amr al-‘Anqazi narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "If you are traveling in the land." He said: In travel.

His saying, the Exalted: "And the calamity of death strikes you"

[6938] And through the same chain from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "If you are traveling in the land, and the calamity of death strikes you." He said: This is in travel; a man is overtaken by death in travel, and there is no one from the Muslims present with him, so he calls upon two men from the Jews, the Christians, or the Magians, and he entrusts his [will] to them and hands his inheritance to them, and they accept it. If the family of the deceased is satisfied with the will and recognizes their companion’s property, they leave the two men. But if they are suspicious, they hand them over to the authorities. And that is His saying: "And the calamity of death strikes you."

[6939] Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj narrated to us, he said: I heard ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam saying regarding His saying: "And the calamity of death strikes you." He said: In the land of disbelief.

His saying, the Exalted: "You detain them after the prayer"

[6940] Al-‘Abbas ibn Yazid al-‘Abdi narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma‘mar narrated to us, from Ayyub, from Ibn Sirin, from ‘Ubaydah regarding His saying: "You detain them after the prayer." He said: The Afternoon Prayer (al-‘Asr).
