The saying of the Exalted: "So whoever disbelieves after that among you."
7042 - Ja'far ibn 'Ali informed us in what he wrote to me, Isma'il ibn Abi Uways narrated to us, 'Abd al-Quddus ibn Ibrahim ibn 'Umar narrated to me, from Wahb ibn Munabbih, from Abu 'Uthman al-Nahdi, from Salman al-Khayr, concerning "So whoever disbelieves after that among you": Allah revealed to His Prophet 'Isa (peace be upon him) to designate His provision in the table for the orphans, the poor, and the infirm, and not for the wealthy among the people. When he did that, the wealthy among the people became suspicious of it, looked down upon it, and even doubted it within themselves, causing others to doubt it, and they spread ugly and wicked things about it. Satan attained his need from them and cast his whispers into the hearts of the doubters, until they said to 'Isa: "Inform us about the table and its descent from the sky; is it real? For many people have become suspicious of it." 'Isa (peace be upon him) said: "You have perished, by the God of the Messiah! You asked your Prophet to request the table for you from your Lord, and when he did and sent it down to you as a mercy and a provision, and showed you the signs and lessons, you denied it and doubted it. So receive tidings of punishment, for it is descending upon you unless Allah has mercy on you." And Allah revealed to 'Isa: "I am taking those who deny My condition, for I will punish those among them who disbelieve in the table after its descent with a punishment that I will not inflict upon anyone from the worlds."
7043 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi informed us in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding His saying: "So whoever disbelieves after that among you": after the table had come to him.
The saying of the Exalted: "Then indeed I will punish him with a punishment which I will not punish anyone among the worlds."
7044 - Ja'far ibn 'Ali informed us in what he wrote to me, Isma'il ibn Abi Uways narrated to us, 'Abd al-Quddus ibn Ibrahim narrated to me, from Ibrahim ibn 'Umar, from Wahb ibn Munabbih, from Abu 'Uthman al-Nahdi, from Salman al-Khayr, concerning "Then indeed I will punish him with a punishment which I will not punish anyone among the worlds," he said: When evening came, those who were suspicious of it went to their beds in the best appearance with their wives, being secure. When it was the last part of the night, Allah transformed them into swine, and they awoke tracking filth in the trash heaps.
7045 - My father narrated to us, al-Hasan ibn Qaza'ah al-Bahili narrated to us, Sufyan ibn Habib narrated to us, Sa'id ibn Abi 'Arubah narrated to us, from Qatadah, from Khallad, from 'Ammar ibn Yasir, from the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) who said: "Allah sent down the table from the sky, and they were commanded not to betray and not to keep any for tomorrow. But they betrayed, stored, and kept some, so they were transformed into monkeys and swine."
