So he asked him, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) informed him of what he had said, and He is more knowing. Then Allah said: "O Jibril, go to Muhammad and say: We shall indeed satisfy you regarding your nation and will not displease you."

- Ja'far ibn 'Ali al-Hanafi informed us in what he wrote to me, Ibn Abi Uways narrated to us, 'Abd al-Quddus ibn Ibrahim al-San'ani narrated to me, from Ibrahim ibn 'Umar, from Wahb ibn Munabbih, from Abu 'Uthman al-Nahdi, from Salman al-Khayr, that he said: When the disciples asked 'Isa ibn Maryam for the table spread, Allah revealed to 'Isa ibn Maryam that I will punish those among them who disbelieved in the table spread after its descent with a punishment the likes of which I have not punished anyone in the worlds. So 'Isa said, submissively to his Lord: "My Lord, if You should punish them, indeed they are Your servants; and if You forgive them, indeed it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise." When evening came, those who doubted it went to their sleeping places in the best form with their wives, being secure. Then, in the last part of the night, Allah transformed them into swine, and they awoke tracking filth in the trash heaps, while the rest of the Children of Israel circled around 'Isa in fear and terror from what their companions had encountered.

- Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim narrated to us in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "If You should punish them, indeed they are Your servants," he says: If You punish them, You cause them to die in their Christianity, so the punishment becomes due upon them, for they are Your servants.

- It was mentioned from Salamah ibn Shabib, Abu 'Abd al-Rahman al-Muqri' narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, Ibn Hubayrah narrated to us, Abu Tamim narrated to us, Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib narrated to me that he heard Hudhayfah saying: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was absent from us one day and did not come out until we thought he would not come out. When he came out, he said: "My Lord spoke to me concerning my nation regarding what He will do with them. I said: Whatever You will; they are Your creation and Your servants. If You punish them, You are more knowing." Then he said it a third time: "So I said the same." He gave me glad tidings that I am the first to enter Paradise, and with me are seventy thousand of my nation who will enter Paradise, and with every thousand, seventy thousand, without reckoning.

- Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim informed us in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "And if You forgive them," meaning: you bring them out of Christianity and guide them to Islam, "indeed it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise." This is the saying of 'Isa (peace be upon him) in this world.
