The Second Aspect:
7113 - Ishaq ibn Ahmad al-Razi and Muhammad ibn ‘Ammar ibn al-Harith al-Razi narrated to us, they said: Ishaq ibn Sulayman informed us, Abu ‘Aysh narrated to us, from Harun al-Taymi, regarding the saying of Allah: “And We sent the sky upon them in abundant rain,” he said: The rain at its proper time.
7114 - My father narrated to us, ‘Abd Allah ibn Ziyad al-Qatawani narrated to us, Sayyar ibn Hatim al-‘Anazi narrated to us, Ja’far—who is Ibn Sulayman—narrated to us, he said: I heard Malik ibn Dinar saying: When there is drought, he would say: Because of our sins. And when there is fertility, he would recite this verse: “And We sent the sky upon them in abundant rain, and made rivers flow beneath them, then We destroyed them for their sins and brought forth after them another generation.”
His saying, the Mighty and Majestic: “And even if We had sent down to you a writing on parchment”
7115 - Al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi’ narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma’mar informed us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: “A writing on parchment,” he says: In a scroll (sahifah). Something similar was narrated from al-Suddi.
His saying: “Then they had touched it with their hands”
7116 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa’ narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: “Then they had touched it with their hands,” he said: They touched it; they looked at it.
7117 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-‘Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid narrated to us, Sa’id narrated to us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: “Then they had touched it with their hands,” he says: They would have witnessed that with their own eyes; “the disbelievers would surely say, ‘This is not but clear magic.’”
His saying: “The disbelievers would surely say,” the verse.
7118 - Muhammad ibn Sa’d al-‘Awfi informed us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my uncle narrated to me, from his father, from ‘Atiyyah, from Ibn ‘Abbas, regarding His saying: “Then they had touched it with their hands, the disbelievers would surely say, ‘This is not but clear magic,’” that would have increased them in denial.
7119 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa’ narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: “The disbelievers would surely say, ‘This is not but clear magic,’” he said: They would have looked at it, and would not have believed in it.
