[His saying: "that which they used to mock"]

7139 - And by the same chain, from al-Suddi, regarding His saying: "that which they used to mock," he says: The punishment which they mocked befell them.

His saying, the Most High: "Say, 'Travel through the earth; then observe how was the end of the deniers.'"

7140 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-‘Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid narrated to us, from Sa‘id, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "Say, 'Travel through the earth; then observe how was the end of the deniers,'" he said: Wretched, by Allah, was the end of the deniers; Allah destroyed them and annihilated them, then turned them toward the Fire.

His saying, the Most High: "Say, 'To whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and earth?' Say, 'To Allah.' He has decreed upon Himself mercy."

7141 - ‘Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Amr al-Ghazzi narrated to us, al-Firyabi narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from al-A‘mash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: When Allah created the creation, He wrote in a book which He wrote upon Himself—it is raised above the Throne: "Indeed, My mercy prevails over My wrath."

7142 - al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi‘ narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma‘mar informed us, from ‘Asim ibn Sulayman, from Abu ‘Uthman al-Nahdi, from Salman, regarding His saying, the Almighty and Exalted: "He has decreed upon Himself mercy," he said: We find in the Torah two descriptions: That Allah created the heavens and the earth and created one hundred mercies, or He set one hundred mercies before He created the creation. Then He created the creation and placed between them one mercy, and kept with Him ninety-nine mercies. He said: By it they show mercy to one another, by it they show affection, by it they give to one another, by it they visit one another, by it the camel shows tenderness, by it the cow shows affection, by it the sheep shows affection, by it the birds follow one another, and by it the fish in the sea follow one another. So when the Day of Resurrection comes, Allah will gather that mercy to what is with Him, and His mercy is superior and more vast.
