His saying: "Over what we neglected therein."
7226 - Ahmad ibn ‘Uthman ibn Hakim informed us in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "Over what we neglected therein," as for "neglected," it means we wasted of the deeds of Paradise.
7227 - Abu Sa‘id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Ibrahim al-Asadi narrated to us, from Warqa’, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: "Alas," he said: It was a cause of regret for them, their mocking of the Messengers.
His saying: "And they will bear their burdens on their backs. Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear."
7228 - Abu Sa‘id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Khalid narrated to us, from ‘Amr ibn Qays, from Abu Marzuq, who said: The disbeliever or the wicked person will encounter upon his emergence from his grave the ugliest form he has ever seen and the foulest in scent. He will say: "Who are you?" He will reply: "Do you not recognize me?" He will say: "No, may Allah make your face ugly and make your scent foul." He will reply: "I am your wicked deed; this is how you were in the world, wicked of deed and foul." He said: "For as long as you rode me in the world, come, let me ride you." This is His saying: "And they will bear their burdens on their backs. Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear."
7229 - Ahmad ibn ‘Uthman ibn Hakim informed us in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "They will bear their burdens on their backs," for there is no wrongdoer who dies and enters his grave but that a man with an ugly face, black complexion, foul scent, and wearing filthy garments comes to him, such that he enters his grave with him. When he sees him, he says to him: "How ugly your face is!" He says: "Your deed was likewise ugly." He says: "How foul your scent is!" He says: "Your deed was likewise foul." He says: "How filthy your garments are!" He says: "Indeed, your deed was filthy." He says to him: "Who are you?" He says: "I am your deed." He said: So he remains with him in his grave, and when he is resurrected on the Day of Resurrection, he says to him: "I used to carry you in the world with pleasures and desires, and today you carry me." He said: So he mounts upon his back and drives him until he enters him into the Fire. That is His saying: "They will bear their burdens on their backs."
His saying: "Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear."
7230 - al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi‘ narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Razzaq informed us, from Ma‘mar, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear," he said: "What they do."
