Translation · EN

His saying, the Almighty: "...his face to Allah while being a doer of good."

[6007] It was mentioned from Yahya ibn Adam, Abu Usamah narrated to us, from Ibn al-Mubarak, from Haywah ibn Shurayh, from 'Ata' ibn Dinar, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding "...one who submits his face to Allah," he said: Whoever is sincere in his face, he said: his religion.

His saying, the Almighty: "And follows the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth."

[The First Aspect]

[6008] My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to us, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas: "Inclining toward truth" means performing Hajj. It is narrated from al-Hasan, al-Dahhak, and 'Atiyyah similarly.

And the Second Aspect:

[6009] My father narrated to us, Qabisah and 'Isa ibn Ja'far narrated to us, they both said: Sufyan narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding "inclining toward truth," he said: Following. It is narrated from al-Rabi' ibn Anas similarly.

And the Third Aspect:

[6010] My father narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Abd Allah ibn 'Abd al-Hakam narrated to us, 'Uthman ibn Salih narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, from Abu Sakhr, from Muhammad ibn Ka'b regarding "inclining toward truth," he said: The Hanif is the upright. Abu Sakhr said, from 'Isa ibn Jariyah, he heard him saying the same.

And the Fourth Aspect:

[6011] Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "Inclining toward truth," he says: Sincere.

And the Fifth Aspect:

[6012] Muhammad ibn Isma'il al-Ahmasi narrated to us, Abu Yahya al-Himmani narrated to us, from Abu Qutaybah al-Basri—meaning Nu'aym ibn Thabit—from Abu Qilabah regarding His saying: "Inclining toward truth," he said: The Hanif is the one who believes in all the messengers, from their first to their last.

His saying, the Almighty: "And Allah took Abraham as an intimate friend (Khalil)."

[6013] al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma'mar informed us, from 'Abd al-Malik...

٦٠٠٧ - ذُكِرَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ آدَمَ، ثنا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ حَيْوَةَ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءُ ابْنُ دِينَارٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ مِمَّنْ أَسْلَمَ وَجْهَهُ لِلَّهِ قَالَ: مَنْ أَخْلَصَ وَجْهَهُ، قَالَ:

دِينَهُ.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَاتَّبَعَ مِلَّةَ إبراهيم حنيفا.

٦٠٠٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ، ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ حَنِيفًا حَاجًّا. وَرُوِيَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، وَالضَّحَّاكِ، وَعَطِيَّةَ نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.

وَالْوَجْهُ الثَّانِي:

٦٠٠٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا قَبِيصَةُ وَعِيسَى بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالا: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ: حَنِيفًا قَالَ: مُتَّبِعًا. وَرُوِيَ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ مِثْلُ ذَلِكَ.

وَالْوَجْهُ الثَّالِثُ:

٦٠١٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي صَخْرٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ: حَنِيفًا قَالَ: الْحَنِيفُ:

الْمُسْتَقِيمُ. قَالَ أَبُو صَخْرٍ، عَنْ عيسى ابن جارية سمته يَقُولُ مِثْلَهُ.

وَالْوَجْهُ الرَّابِعُ:

٦٠١١ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ الأَوْدِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُفَضَّلٍ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ قَوْلَهُ: حَنِيفًا يَقُولُ: مُخْلِصًا.

وَالْوَجْهُ الْخَامِسُ:

٦٠١٢ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الأَحْمَسِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي قُتَيْبَةَ الْبَصْرِيِّ يَعْنِي نُعَيْمَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَبِي قِلابَةَ قَوْلِهِ: حَنِيفًا قَالَ: الْحَنِيفُ: الَّذِي يُؤْمِنُ بِالرُّسُلِ كُلِّهِمْ مِنْ أَوَّلِهِمْ إِلَى آخِرِهِمْ.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَاتَّخَذَ اللَّهُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلا.
