7270 - Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la informed us by way of reading, Ibn Wahb told us, Ibn Lahi'ah informed me that Abu al-Zubayr informed him, from Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah, from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, that he said: "There is no one among the people who calls upon Allah with a supplication but that Allah gives him what he asks for, or He withholds from him the like of it in evil, as long as he does not pray for a sin or the severance of kinship."
His saying the Exalted: "And indeed, We have sent to nations before you, then We seized them with poverty and hardship that they might humble themselves."

7271 - Abu Sa'id ibn Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Qattan narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Muhammad al-'Anqazi narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, from Murrah, from 'Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud regarding His saying: "with poverty (al-ba'sa')," he said: al-ba'sa' is poverty.
7272 - It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas, Abu al-'Aliyah, al-Hasan in one of his two statements, Murrah al-Hamdani, Sa'id ibn Jubayr, Mujahid, al-Dahhak, al-Rabi' ibn Anas, al-Suddi, and Muqatil ibn Hayyan similarly to that.

7273 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Ibn Numayr narrated to us, Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, our companions narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Mujahid, from 'Ubayd ibn 'Umayr regarding "al-ba'sa'," he said: It is misery (al-bu's).
